Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / jbidwatcher thief needs to be stopped

I’ve sent messages to three more: mother-gems, airforceexclusives, and mastermad41.
6 down, 14 to go. (Yeah, I miscounted before.)

One easy thing which we can do to help shut down the thief is to let his buyers know that that they’ve been robbed… especially those buyers who have not yet left him feedback.

Step 1: View dustsniper’s feedback history:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedbackFromBuyers&userid=dustsniper&items=200

Step 2: view the buyer lists for each of his auctions. Several can be found via search:
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewListedItems&since=30&userid=dustsniper&include=0&rows=200&sort=3&completed=1
and more can be indentified from his feedback history.

Step 3: scan the dustsniper’s feedback history for buyers who haven’t yet left feedback.

Step 4: use the “contact member” feature of eBay to send those buyers who have not yet left feedback a message similar to the following:

FYI, xxx, the SnipeIt tool that dustsniper is selling is actually a ripped-off free opensource program called jbidwatcher. You’ve been robbed! You can download it for free www.jbidwatcher.com or https://sourceforge.net/projects/jbidwatcher/

I just did steps 1-3 for eight of dustsniper’s auctions, and
found 17 victims who were robbed by dustsniper but have not
yet left feedback. (That’s about 1/3 of the buyers for those
auctions.)

I used “contact member” to notify the first three victims.
However, eBay severely limits how many messages you can send
which do not pertain to a specific auction, so that’s all I’ve
been able to send so far.

Please feel free to send messages to some of the other victims!
(See links below.)

The solution was to un-check “Enable Affiliate Use” at File -> Configure.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / struck-thru e-addr & date/time on current tab

When I try to add an auction to the (empy) “current” tab, nothing happens, except that the email address and date+time near the upper-right corner are are struck-through with a line. This has been going on for several days. My guess is that means “couldn’t view eBay page,” or similar.

Yet if I go to the “completed” tab, and double-click an auction there, it updates successfully, and the line through the email address and date/time goes away.

Any idea what’s going on, and what to do about it?

Also, a minor feature request for Morgan: could you add one of those pop-down yellow mouse-hover notes to the struck-through email address and date/time, which tells the user why there’s a line through his email address?

Thanks for a wonderful tool!
