Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Hey Morgan, PLEASE fix the eBay Login!

I wish I know how to code, then I don’t mind spending a couple of hours at night when I’m not too busy and eventually I might get it working right (again).

Yeah, eBay has hundred of programmers constantly making changes everyday. Oh well….

I tried to read the error log, and it all points to eBay
If no one will help modifying the code (this code is available to those who knows how to do coding), the it’s a lost cost.

So, it’s not worth it. We will just BIN or Amazon. Too bad, I bid on other auctions, and there’s no tools to help like JBW before for eBay and I actually don’t enjoy those auctions. Now, time to move on.

BTW – I did try JBW on Mac OS X 15.2 and it will not login.

How about we chip in and pay the yearly subscription fee that you would have paid the other web site to Morgan?

Setup a good annual supporting fee Payable to Morgan, so your JBW will be updated enough to run and snipe for you. I’d sent support via paypal a couple of times in the past and I don’t mind at all to pay for a bit of support.

Hey, everyone else ask for a monthly “rental” fee of the software now (adobe, microsoft, etc.)

Everyone, let us know what YOU think.

Today – my JBW broke for the first time with the same error 405. (ebay.com Mac OS X).
I’m on OS X 10.13.6

I will try it on 10.14 and 10.15 later when I have time and report the findings.

sad to hear that…. I’d been using JBW for so many years, never had that issue (yet).

The only difference I can observe is that I am on Mac OS X, and assuming you all are not.

now looks more and more to me it’s an issue related to co.uk area servers.

Anyone having that issue from USA accessing ebay.com?

My JBW is set to snipe in 34 hours for an item (didn’t find any good deals on bidding lately), and we will find out if it still works well for me soon.

Oh well, you have no problem login with browsers and you have static IP, and did you test your login within JBW preferences settings ? If that does not login, then your JBW will not work, right?

Besides that, I don’t know how else but to suggest you read from the web:
From the web:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/238461/error-message-405-method-not-allowed

https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/http-405-method-not-allowed

and figure out why you have the infamous error 405.

alright, sorry I can’t help you much. I tried ebay.co.uk and I don’t have any issue.

Again, you have issues with browsers even getting into ebay site, logically thinking, you may have issue using JBW accessing ebay sites also.

So, this is not a JBW error code? Just from your general web browsing?

Could be that eBay detected “changes” on your end (like different IP#’s).

Maybe you can go to preferences in JBW and “test login” again?
And also if you use VPN, how do you set the preferences in JBW for the ’Firewall"?
Those all play some factors I think.

Granted it was working much smoother and easier before. But maybe that’s why eBay tighten up their codes as they are the one being responsible for any financial transactions that went through their servers.

I think every well “used” machines whether Windows or Mac, will have lots of footprints and signatures left in the machine from prior use. We need to know how eBay is either granting or blocking access. And if IP# and machine ID is the keys they look for then that’s how we need to follow.

It’s similar to if you use your own phone and the app will just login in to your bank account or Paypal or eBay. But try it when you get a new smart phone, even with complete restore to where all apps and files are all the same as the old phone, you still need to authenticate with your bank accounts and Paypal and eBay, etc.

If I turn on my VPN, even selecting “California” which is where I am, all my email accounts will be blocked and I will receive notifications of “suspicious login” telling me that someone else has my password and is trying to access my email account and it was “blocked”, and I should thank them for bloking me haha.

I am more confused now. As all are working for me, and JBW still does snipe and drag and drop or add for me.

I click on the + sign, copy/paste item # 383289377053 and it added the item. Click on show in browser, and it showed the item with URL below:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/383289377053?ViewItem=&item=383289377053
Greece, 25 Drachmai 1913, Signature Valaoritis, Condition:VF – 25, Pick#52
currently big at $15.50 with 7 bids.

Alll I have from past experience is: I need to keep my end “consistent”. I’d bee blocked by eBay thinking I’m someone else from my own home computer, but that’s probably having inconsistent IP# from using a VPN client before. Now all cleared and settled.

So, I will snipe on that note for you if you want. Happy Thanksgiving from California USA.

ivan: regarding “captcha”, try in settings, instead of your ebay user ID, use your email address associated with the eBay ID. I actually had problem logging in from my browser before, and i am sure about my password, so I called eBay on that, and the customer service rep. told me to use email address to login from my browser, and it works. But sometimes, the eBay ID will not work. The reason eBay gave me is that every one can know your ID, but not everyone knows the email address used for that eBay ID (for security reasons when they suspect that you are logging in from so many different IP#, etc. if you are using a VPN or access your ebay account from many different “not so normal” locations.

Good luck.

I’m on Mac OS X, no issues with this error code even when I tried: ebay.co.uk

maybe the problem is not with JBW?

Sorry, no direct help. Good luck guys.

Is it an issue with ebay.co.uk?

As I am not experiencing any problem from USA using ebay.com Can you try to login from ebay.com and see if it makes any differences?

So far, so good and JBW still snipes for me (from USA, 9 seconds before end of auction). But I do find that there are more and more BIN listings, than bidding….. I end up buying more than 95% of the items I purchase from eBay now, and only enjoy bidding on about 5% of the items I buy from eBay.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Time Left not being retrieved

I used to keep old listings, but I can delete them now as eBay does not keep it that long and whenever you want to show in browser an old listing that has ended, eBay will now redirect you to something similar, and not that listing anyways.

I delete all those ended, and I also do “clear deleted tracking” under File menu.

Enjoy JBW.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Time Left not being retrieved

From what I gather, the BUY-IT-NOW listings has a N/A time Left as eBay now will automatically extend the listing once the cycle is up, usually it’s 30 days.

Maybe the seller change the listing and made it a BIN format before the bidding listing is up, as there are lack of bidders or watchers.

My JBW just successfully send out a snipe 9 seconds before ending of a listing as expected, but since My bid is too low, I didn’t win, but JBW sniped alright.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Capcha Issues

I think you are correct. I had problem once, and it was probably due to eBay being hacked, and they just want you (the owner) to go in and change password and authenticate yourself again. I’d even had lots of problem login knowing that I’d typed the correct and changed a couple of times too until I called and talked to eBay staff, and they told me to use my email address instead of my user ID to login, and it works every time and after that I don’t have those login issues and JBW is sniping and winning for me even up till now as long as I am willing to cast a high enough bid to win (sometimes I go too cheap and just want to try if I can win at a ridiculous low price.

So, have fun, good luck to you all and don’t snipe on those I want to win from now on. okay? :-D

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / Which JRE?

sure, but I’m using MacOS and don’t have to worry much as most needed codes are build in. Perhaps you can try matching the 64-bit to your Windows installation, as for the version, try the newest, and if not working, then you need to go back down.

So I would say try 64-bit Java runtime x64 11.0.3 first.
Sorry, not much sure help.
Best of luck.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Newest pre5 unusable for years under Linux(s)

my setup is Mac OS X 10.13.6
I can drag the URL to JBW it will add all links, but thumbs sometimes work, sometimes not. Don’t bother me much, but it does fire and snipe and win me some sometimes (as long as I big high enough LOL).

I only keep listings in CURRENT tab, and I keep all items won in a tab I created called WON, and “Get My eBay Items” doesn’t seem to work, but I can use web browser “my eBay” to manage okay there.

I will upgrade to 10.14 Mojave soon after I configure my new Mac Mini, I am adding RAM and get SSD in it to make it my next desktop Mac. My current one boots in aboutu 7 seconds to login panel, and that’s what I want or better for the new one I will build and upgrade to.

Have fun bidding. Remember, you need to bid high enough in order to win. Sometimes I am just too darn “cheap” to snipe at a high $ amount and JBW will complaint about cannot snipe due to current price is higher than my set bid price….LOL.

no help either, but just FYI, JBW 2.99-pre5 still works for me under Mac OS X. Sometimes thumbs don’t show up, but not bothering me as long as it will snipe and win me the auction, which just happened today.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Won items not marked as won

Most all my winnings from Nov.2017 till now are moved to completed tab and color blue, except last one is color red still on Feb.8th,2018, but it was moved to completed tab so I know it’s done correctly, and I don’t have the date issue on my end.

Are you on Windows?
I am on Mac OS.

Comment Topic: Announcements / Temporarily despammed

I continue to have success using JBW, with my Mac OS X, now 10.13.3

Things are doing quite well actually. thumbnails, color, moving to right tabs, etc. I don’t know why, but I just keep using it, and when I win, I am happy.

Thanks again Morgan.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Snipe failed

sorry to hear that.

Today my JBW sniped and won again. My Mac probably is in screen sleep mode, but it fired, and here’s what I use:

JBidwatcher (2.99pre5-2-g7251940)
OS X 10.12.6

I just leave my computer, and it will have eventually black screen, but it will stay on and fire snipes.

Well, don’t see much of a difference, as I was on 10.12.5 and JBW worked too, The only thing might be that your system is set to sleep and it did not wake in time. Check your energy settings.etc. I upgraded to SSD and lots or RAM so I keep the machine on 24/7 and not to worry much about heat generated by rotational HDD anymore. It works well so far for me, except that the thumbnails don’t work now, but it does not hinder JBW ability to snipe for me so far.

Let me know if anything else you see as could be changed to make it work for you again.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Snipe failed

I am not having that problem with settings of 9 seconds on my end. I am using OS X 10.12.5 and still keeping winning auctions despite not getting any thumbnails images.

Perhaps you can update your Mac OS, and in JBW, under SERVERS pull down menu bar, select to view the “Time Information”, and then “Synchronize Time”.

My Time here has a Page Load time = 1075, and eBay time delta = -326

Goodluck.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Cannot Update

You might want to try just go download directly and install it (to replace the old version). I am on (JBidwatcher (2.99pre5-2-g7251940)) and it says it’s the current version. It’s working for me, as I can win snipes but it does not add more Thumbnails anymore, but it snipes and I am using it. It’s the Edge version, and you can download directly below:

http://www.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.99pre5.dmg

I am running OS X 10.12.5 corei7 2.7Ghz

Good Luck.
