I added a sell item (111722786796) to eBay (USA) earlier today, and dragged its URL to JBidWatcher 2.5.6-11-gac197d6, and JBW showed that item ok in the Selling tab. But later today, JBW did not show the item. The status line at the bottom says Done Getting Selling Items, but nothing shows. Activity Log shows “Loaded 0 new items for seller …”. Error Log shows nothing unusual. Running search My Selling Items gets nothing. Entering the item number in the main page search field and pressing Return just gets a beep. |

In case anyone else is following this, I solved the problem. When JBW shows that error message about “Java SE 6”, that window contains a button “More Information”. Two days ago, when I pressed More Info, I got a blank window from apple.com. Today when I pressed it, it said “Download Java for OS X 2014-001 which installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005”. Get that? Java 6! Downloaded and installed that, and now JBW runs ok. |

I’d sure like to know how you avoid the message that I get “To open JBidwatcher you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime”. In Apple / System Preferences / Java / General / About, it says “Version 8 Update 25”. Is there anything there that helps JBW to run? Or in Security? Obviously, I’m doing something wrong, but how to tell what? |

If JBW won’t work with Java 8 (which contains Oracle’s latest and greatest security updates) on Mac 10.10, does that signal the end-of-life for JBW on Mac? |

I’ve seen a few posts about this but no resolution. I haven’t run JBW 2.5.6 for a few months. Installed Mac Yosemite 10.10.1 and Java 8. Now when I try to start JBW, get “To open JBidwatcher you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime”. I found and downloaded Java 6, but when I try to install, it says needs MacOS 10.6. How to get JBW to work with Java 8? |

When I restart my Mac and JBW is running, restart says something like “JBidwatcher killed the restart”, and the restart stops. I then must exit JBW and select restart again. Could you have JBW ask the user if the restart should proceed, and if the answer is yes, exit JBW automatically, and let the restart continue? Thanks. |

I’ll add my voice to this chorus. Same symptoms as Carl Holmberg. I reverted to 2.1pre5 and that’s better. By the way, when I tried restoring 2.1pre5 from Time Machine, it kept failing saying I didn’t have permissions, but I’m admin on my own iMac. I finally traced it to the permissions on Jbidwatcher being r-r-r. When installing JBW, should set permissions to rw-rw-r. |

Oops. Sorry I missed the earlier report on this issue. Kill this. |

Jbidwatcher shows Seller “(unknown)” for ebay item 260453749218 (ended). Looks like ebay has thrown another wrinkle. |

Here are two examples of the Minimum Bid being set to $1 when I didn’t bid nor snipe, just entered the auctions into Jbidwatcher: 250400569856, 250403084637. |

Niggle: the vertical bar that separates column headings is missing from 2.0beta3. I can still drag the invisible column boundary to change the width of columns; just missing the visual clue that shows the column boundaries. |

Using Jbidwatcher 1.0.2, I tried to snipe http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200167788140, but Jbidwatcher said: Sun Nov 04 19:59:58 EST 2007: Snipe failed, as you are disallowed from bidding on polkadotpatty’s items. (1) I sent a message to polkadotpatty asking why I was disallowed, and (s)he said I was allowed, and welcomed my bidding. I suspect that the Jbidwatcher message might have been the result of this seller enabling “User ID kept private” in this auction, but don’t really know. The bid history just shows “private listing – bidders’ identities protected” where the bidder name usually shows. Could this be the reason JBidwatcher said I was disallowed from bidding? |
