Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / jbidwatcher clock seems way off

Hi, my time is correct and zone is AEST = Australia Eastern Standard Time.
Note that the “Time Left” column on jbidwatcter is correct by the way.
Cheers,
Ronnie

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / jbidwatcher clock seems way off

Hi
Thanks for that. Given that jbidwatcher actually always snipes the ebay.com site (even though I am a ebay.com.au user), perhaps I should change my configuration to point at ebay.com – as this might get rid of the error.
What do you think?
Cheers,
Ronnie

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / XMLParseException errors

Hi
Sorry about yet another post, I have been using jbidwatcher for a while and love it – but I have finally to taken to examining errors and asking about them, which I hope will help myself and other users.
Anyway…

Looking at my err logs I seem to have quite a few with this type of PMQ Caught exception: XMLParseException problem:

Wed Sep 26 23:18:56 EST 2007: Getting the sign in cookie. [candidrb@ebay: 26-Sep-2007 23:18:56 EST/26-Sep-2007 23:18:56 EST]

XMLParseException: XML Parse Exception during parsing of a FORM-tag at line 1: Syntax error while parsing an attribute key

What does it mean, what are the consequences, and is it avoidable?

Cheers,
Ronnie

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / jbidwatcher clock seems way off

Hi
For a while now jbidwatcher has sometimes missed snipes (no complaints, it is free and a wonderful package) which I took to be the result of either the network being down or snipe latency (though I have set it for 20 seconds and I have a high speed connection). The misses occur about 20% of times (note: I am not talking about cases where the snipe underbids the highest bid which will obviously fail).
Yesterday I got another missed snipe, and after looking at the error log, I think the problem sometimes is that the clock somehow messes up.

The auction (on ebay.com.au) itself says
Ended 11-Oct-07 06:13:59 AEST

However my err log file says
Thu Oct 11 07:12:40 EST 2007: Thu Oct 11 07:12:40 EST 2007: 300157820277 (VINTAGE BLACK ROTORY TELEPHONE) – Preparing snipe. (1)
Thu Oct 11 07:12:40 EST 2007: Getting the sign in cookie. [candidrb@ebay: 11-Oct-2007 07:12:39 EST/11-Oct-2007 07:12:39 EST]

Thu Oct 11 07:12:40 EST 2007: MQ_Swing: Postponing Message: NOTIFY Failed to load all auctions.
Thu Oct 11 07:12:45 EST 2007: Thu Oct 11 07:12:45 EST 2007: 300157820277 (VINTAGE BLACK ROTORY TELEPHONE) – Loading bid request… (1)
Thu Oct 11 07:12:49 EST 2007: Thu Oct 11 07:12:49 EST 2007: 300157820277 (VINTAGE BLACK ROTORY TELEPHONE) – Cancelling snipe, auction is reported as ended. (1)
Thu Oct 11 07:12:49 EST 2007: Thu Oct 11 07:12:49 EST 2007: 300157820277 (VINTAGE BLACK ROTORY TELEPHONE) – Cancelling snipe. (1)
Thu Oct 11 07:12:49 EST 2007: Checking sign in as bid key load failed!
Thu Oct 11 07:12:49 EST 2007: Thu Oct 11 07:12:49 EST 2007: 300157820277 (VINTAGE BLACK ROTORY TELEPHONE) – Failed to bid. ‘Show Last Error’ from context menu to see the failure page from the bid attempt. (1)

If you look at the time, it seems as though the snipe occurred more than an hour after the auction ended. I have looked through other err logs, some of these show these as well.

By the way, JBidWatcher was started about 12 hours prior to the bid.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ronnie

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / jbidwatcher crashes for no reason

Hi
Thank you very much for your reply, very much appreciated.
Just to let you know with regards to your questions:
1. It has exited entirely.
2. I have actually updated my JVM a few days ago.
3. There are no hs_err_pid files.
I will keep an eye out anyway.
Cheers,
Ronnie

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / network sleeps stopping jbidwatcher

Hi
Sometimes my snipes fail and I suspect it is because my network “goes to sleep” when the PC is inactive (even though the PC does not hibernate or anything like that). I suspect this because when I sit down at the PC and start using it, the screen says something like “Wireless Network Connection now active” or something like it.
My question is: is there any way I can determine if this is true, and more importantly, ensure my Windows XP does not put my network to sleep?
Thanks.

Brilliant program by the way!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / posting to muliple ebay sites

Hi
On the jbidwatcher configuration menu, I know that you can choose which site (eg ebay.com, ebay.com.au etc).
My question is: I often have a number of snipes I need to different ebay sites. For example, I normally have my ebay pointing to ebay.com.au but have some item I am sniping from ebay.com. Does this mean that my ebay.com snipes will fail?
Thanks.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / jbidwatcher crashes for no reason

Hi
Every now again (maybe once a fortnight) I come home from work, expecting my good old jbidwatcher to have guarded my snipe for me, and it seems that it has crashed.
1. Has anybody else experienced this?
2. Are there any logs I check for to determine what’s gone wrong?
Thanks.
