Hi Ian, When you say you reinstalled did you delete all the .Jbidwatcher folder and then reinstall – if not try doing that you might want to backup the folder first as you might need to reuse the display.cfg file as Beta 8 doesn’t seem to create one if it doesn’t exist! I have the same operating system & Java version as you and use the .exe version of JBidWatcher and apart from a few quirks mentioned elsewhere on the forums works most of the time. So try deleting the .Jbidwatcher folder (found in C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\). Hope this is of some help. Regards |

Hi, It sounds like a Java issue but is there any chance you could supply more info – What operating system you are using, what version of Java, what version of JBidWatcher you are using please? Thanks Hoddy |

JBidWatcher uses Ebay.com for all it’s bidding and collecting of info regardless of which Ebay site you normally use – the reason for this is so that everything is consistent (imagine trying to translate all the different languages) and it makes it simpler for Morgan to program (as if it’s not complicated enough)! To repopulate JBidwatcher clivk on the “Ebay” tab (top left) and then on “Get My Ebay Item”. All the items you are watching or bidding on will be loaded!! Hoddy |

Make a copy of the Display.cfg file that is in the .JBidwatcher folder, make a note of any Firewall settings you use and then delete ALL the .Jbidwatcher folders on your PC. Simply run the Windows executable version of JBidwatcher and it will re-create the necessary folder structure. If the display.cfg file is not re-created then simply copy the one you saved earlier into the .Jbidwatcher folder (shut Jbidwatcher first). Enter your Ebay settings etc (don’t forget to press the “test” button) and all should now be working again. If it’s not check your Firewall settings…….. Hoddy |

THe quantity is there in case there is more than one item being sold (ie a Dutch Auction) not for how many “Smipes” you want to win…….. Hoddy |

Have you read Morgan’s guide? See: http://www.jbidwatcher.com/help/multisniping.shtml it may explain what went wrong. Regards |

Hi Morgan, The (FP) problem seems to be completly random but it occurs mostly on starting JBidWatcher although has happened to me after JBidWatcher has been “running” a couple of hours. All the prices get (FP) next to them and the higest bidder and shipping columns become blank! If there is any info I can supply that will help diagnose the problem then please get back to me. Regards |

The Multisnipe function stops working as soon as you win (ie if you add six items to a multisnipe JBidWatcher will stop any further bids as soon as you win). If you want to win lots of items then simply use more than one multisnipe (ie if you want to win three items out of six listings use three multisnipes of two items each). Hoddy |

I’ve “checked out” the ‘Unanswerable lust CD’ using version Beta 8 and the time and info is correctly displayed. The only version before Beta 8 that worked correctly for me (using Windows XP) was the Beta 3 version (I’ve posted the link to download it earlier in the thread). JBidWatcher uses Ebay.com for all it’s bidding and collecting of info regardless of which Ebay site you normally use – the reason for this (correct me if I’m wrong Morgan) is so that everything is consistent (imagine trying to translate all the different languages) and it makes it simpler for Morgan to program (as if it’s not complicated enough)! Give Beta 3 a try as I found that functioned fine (with a few minor bugs). Regards |

The (FP) problem seems to be intermittent and I find shutting down and restarting JBidWatcher cures the problem (until the next time!). The not saving the customised columns is due to the fact version beta 8 doesn’t seem to create a display.cfg file – see a previous discussion for a cure: http://forum.jbidwatcher.com/forums/1/topics/1599. Hi, I think you might find this is a “Bug” in Beta 8 as I’ve had the same problem. Check to see if you have a display.cfg file in the .jbidwatcher folder. If it’s missing then that will be the problem (it would appear that Beta 8 doesn’t create one). I cured my problem by copying the display.cfg file from used by a previous version of JBidwatcher and placing it in the .jbidwatcher folder – make sure you close JBidwatcher before making the changes!! Hi, Make sure you are NOT using the new Ebay Beta pages as they stop JBidwatcher from working. When you install (start using) Beta 8 it’s best to delete (make a copy first) the contents of the old JBidwattcher folder. I found that Beta versions 4,5,6 & 7 had more “bugs” than fixes for me so had been using Beta 3. Have now updated to Beta 8 and all seems to be working well (except for a few minor bugs) – thanks Morgan you’re a star!! Hoddy |

As mention in other threads in this forum I think the problem is down to the new Ebay Beta pages. I “used” the new “Beta” pages briefly but at the time hadn’t put the fact that JBidwatcher went wrong together with using the “Beta” pages. Have gone back to the normal pages and it’s not happened again!! Hoddy |

Forgot to mention that you will need to delete the contents of the .Jbidwatcher folder. Please see: http://forum.jbidwatcher.com/forums/1/topics/1553 for details. Hoddy |

I’m using version 2 Beta 3 and have also noticed that after JBidwatcher has been running for a few hours the same thing is happening. Most (but not all) of the auctions display (FP) and the shipping price becomes blank. Normally restarting JBidwatcher and updating the auctions sets everything back to normal. Has anybody got any idea what’s happening? Thanks |

Having tried the all latest Beta versions of JBidwatcher on Win XP I’ve had to go back to using version 2.0 Beta 3 which works fine (with just a few small bugs). Unfortunatly it appears you can’t simply roll back to Beta 3 as it then suffers with the same problems as the newer Beta versions. So the best thing to do is make a copy of the .Jibidwatcher folder (located at: C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\) and the delete then contents of the folder (you can leave the JBidWatch.cfg file). Start Jbidwatcher version Beta 3 and you will be in business again! Reards |

When the items are in Red it means you are not the higest bidder and the item has at least one bid (the items are in black if there are no bids or it’s a Buy it Now). Items turn blue when you are the higest bidder as long as it’s not a Private auction in which case JBidwatcher can’t determine who is winning (so it will be in red). Hope that answers your question. Hi Morgan, Thanks for your prompt reply. I’ve now using Beta 6 and the Ebay username has reappeared. I don’t think I explained very well about the “Complete” tab update problem so I will try again. Any auction that finishes while my PC is switched off (regardless of me bidding) is not updated when I restart JBidwatcher. ie Any item where the auction is completed and moves from the “Current” to the “Complete” tab on startup does not get updated automatically. Is there a way to get it to update ALL auctions (either pending or completed) when JBidwatcher starts? Thanks again Hoddy |

I have upgraded to Beta 5 but have noticed what might be a couple of “Bugs”. I no longer get the username@ebay login in the menubar (top right) so I’m not sure if I’m logged in or not – it was very useful to check that all was well. The complete tab doesn’t update the auctions. I use a program to switch my PC off when JBidwatcher has finished bidding – when I restart JBidwatcher it doesn’t update the complete tab so doesn’t show if I won the auction(s) or not. I also won an item in a Dutch auction by JBidwatcher shows (unknown) as the winner! Are these “bugs” or intentional? Thanks Hoddy |

Hi, The way I work it out is to open an eBay auction page (an auction that’s near it’s end) and note the time to the end of the auction in minutes and seconds (point A) click refresh and note the time again (point B) and then immediately click refresh again and note the time again (point C) – the difference in time should be seconds. Simply take the difference in time between point B and C (seconds) and add 2 seconds for traffic. ie On my PC the difference in time is 4 seconds and so I set my interval 6 secs. Hoddy |
