Hi Morgan, Now back to normal! It seems for 24 hours every time I wanted to view the bidding on an item I had to enter a ‘Security Code’ before I could view. Now seems to have gone and JbidWatcher now showing the highest bidder again! Regards |

Jbidwatcher (2.1.5) no longer identifies the highest bidder so is now unable to multisnipe as it no longer is able to identify who is the highest bidder! (Windows version) High Bidder column is blank (—). I assume Ebay has been making changes again…….. Hoddy |

It seems that eBay (UK) may have changed it’s page format as JBidWatcher no longer is able to display the ‘High Bidder’ – the column is either empty or displays’(fixed price)‘. Completed items are now shown with the High Bidder as ’(fixed price)’. As JBidWatcher no longer identifies the highest bidder Multisnipes are no longer an option. Hoddy UPDATE: 13:00 GMT The High Bidders names have now slowly started to appear again and replace the instances of (fixed price)! Anybody have an explanation? |

JBidWatcher doesn’t have an install program as it doesn’t install anything on your PC . It does however create a folder under ‘Users’ on Win 7 located at C:\users\yourusername\.jbidwatcher which you can safely delete if you don’t intend to use JBidWatcher anymore. Also delete the JBidWatcher2.xx.exe file you downloaded. Hoddy |

Hi, To turn off the Thumbnails you need to right click (or ctrl click on Mac) the “Tab” and the select “Custom Columns” and untick the “Thumbnail” – they will then not show in the listings. Turning off Thumbnails in the “Configuration” stops the Thumbnails ‘poping up’ as your cusor moves over the listings. Regards |

Previous versions of JBidWatcher are available here: http://www.jbidwatcher.com/download/ Just add the file name you want to download to the end of the Url – ie to downloand the Windows version of JBidWatcher 2.1pre8 add: JBidwatcher-2.1pre8.exe to the end (http://www.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.1pre8.exe). Hi Morgan, Just tried the 2.1.pre8 Windows Standalone version and it’s still not finding the Watched Items (0 watched items found). UPDATE I deleted my .jbidwatcher folder and tried again – it now finds all my Watched items but does NOT find the items I am bidding on or the items I have already won! Regards |

By ‘Navigate to file’ I mean go to where you downloaded the JBidwatcher-2.1pre5.exe file (in windows this is often by default into your ‘My Documents\Downloads’ folder. If it’s not there then search your drives for: JBidwatcher-2.1pre5.exe and when you have found the file figt click and send to Desktop as above. If you can’tr find the file for any reason simply download it again and make a note of where you have downloaded it to. Regards |

You have downloaded the ‘Executable’ version of JBidWatcher. All you need to do is navigate to the file and then right click on the file and select Send To and then select Desktop from the list. You will then have an icon on your Desktop for JBidWatcher. Simples…… Hoddy |

I must admit that in the past it’s never been a problem but now Ebay have changed the way that they deal with buyers “problems”. Previously I was automatically directed to the PayPal site when I went to report a problem and I would then open a case with PayPal and they would deal with the issue. Now Ebay has changed the “system” and Ebay deals with the case not PayPal as before hence the problem. To anybody who does have a problem I wouldn’t open the case in Ebay but open a case in PayPal direct – cut out the middleman (and hopefully the problems)!! Unfortunatly I still have a case open that’s on going…… Morgan – thanks for the reply – how’s about producing a ebay.co.uk bidding version maybe available by subscription only? Or when’s the Gixen version going to be available? Thanks |

I’ve been a avid user of JBidWatcher for a few years but have had considerable problems and lose of money due to me winning auctions with JBidWatcher! I think most people are aware that JBidWatcher places ALL bids via Ebay.com regardless of where you reside. I live in the UK and have recently had two items that I had won but arrived and were “not as described”. I filed cases in Ebays “Resolution Centre” and was duly directed to Ebay.COM to make my claim – to cut a long story short Ebay UK would not deal with the case as the item was purchased via Ebay USA and I was advised to telephone Ebay in the USA (very expensive). Ebay USA told me it had to be dealt with via Ebay UK!! I eventually got a refund after returning the item but the refund was paid in US dollars UK pounds to my paypal account which meant I lost out considerably with the conversion rate. So be warned if it’s an expensive item (mine was) and you have a problem with the seller it can take considerable time and cost to “sort it out” via Ebay.com rather than your local Ebay site. The rules for Ebay.com may also differ from your local Ebay site. I found it an expensive lesson. Morgan is the anyway you can provide a version that bids via Ebay.co.uk please? Hoddy |

You can only bid on one item at a time. But you can multisnipe – ie JBidWatcher will bid on the first item and if you win will not bid on any other items you have selected, if you lose JBidWatcher will then bid on the next auction that you have selected in the multisnipe. Once you win bidding stops…. Hoddy |

I’ve now had to stop using 2.1pre5 as I’ve found that it I leave it running on my PC (as I normally do) after a few hours my PC starts to freeze untill it gets so bad I have to switch off and restart. (I’m running Win Xp service pack 3). I’ve now gone back to using 2.1pre4 and everythings now ok (has been running for over 24 hours without any problems!). So I assume it’s some sort of memory problem – it starts by causing Internet Explorer 8 to start freezing before the whole PC freezes. Looks like I will have to put up a bit longer with the deleting problems in pre4. Hoddy |

I’ve updated to the latest version (2.1pre5) and JBidwatcher no longer adds the items I’m either bidding on or have won. If I go back to V2.1pre4 they are added! Has anybody else got the same problem? (I’m using the Win standalone version). Hoddy |

In the latest version (pre3-988) if I am the highest bidder my entry in the High Bidder coloumn is shown as my Username followed by my feedback rating in brackets (xxxx). Is this why JBidWatcher no longer displays me blue when I am the highest bidder? Is there a workaround? Thanks |

Hi Myrlin, The problem is with JBidWatcher and the way it parses Ebay – Firefox is NOT to blame. Hoddy |

JBidWatcher has today (Tuesday 28th July) started diplaying the Current price (and shipping etc) incorrectly for some auctions. It’s displaying the currency in $ (Dollars) when it should be in £ (UK pounds). The value displayed is also followed by (FP) and is either $1 or $2 regardless of the real value. Some auctions display the correct value followed by (FP). Examples auctions are: 150360157154 / 330346691291 / 150360324337. I am using JBidWatcher version 2.1pre2-963, Java 1.6.14 on a Win XP machine (service pack 2). Regards |

Hi Pkyancey, Take another look at the tabs that you have available and you should see a tab called My Ebay. This is where your items will be. You can right click the items and Send To the Complete tab. It seems the search now sends them to this tab – this can be changed by clicking on the Magnifying glasss then the My Ebay search and then click the Edit button. Change the Destination to Current. All should then be well. Regards |

Update Hi Morgan, JBidWatcher 2.1pre2 release is now showing both Seller and High bidders (I’ve gone blue again)! I had to restart JBidWatcher after deleting an item (still crashes on deleting an item from a column) this morning (Thursday 16th July) and hey presto they appeared and are still showing. JBidWatcher has now also found and now shows all my “Watched, Won & Items I’m Bidding On” items (total 150+ items). I still can’t bid from within JBidWatcher but Sniping works but Items that have ended are no moved to the Completed column. On deleting an item(s) the popup box is to small (height wise) and has to be stretched every time so get to the confirmation button. I assume Ebay have made some more changes………. Regards Update II I had to restart JBidWatcher as I deleted an item and the Highest Bidder column went back to (Unknown) sigh. I have found if I keep restarting JBidWatcher it eventually starts working again so I can now see the Highest Bidder again…. but I expect it will break again if/when I restart JBidWatcher – deep sigh. |

Hi Morgan, I’m afraid there seem to be lots of problems with the 2.1pre2 release. I’m using the Windows executable version on a Win XP machine and I am in the UK. Problems I’ve found so far are: 1) Fails to bid or snipe – as reported earlier – nothing is shown on screen I expect others can add to this list……… Sorry to have such a large list. Regards Hoddy |
