Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Can no longer add items into JBidwatcher!!

It would seem Ebay have made some changes (to the UK site) as I can no longer add items into JBidWatcher. If I click ‘Get My Ebay Items’ it tells me how many are new but doesn’t add them. I also cannot add items by inputting their number. So for me JBidWatcher is now broken…..

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / how can I make JBW shutdown the PC after work?

Hi, I am assuming that you are using a version of Windows. If so download and install a free program called Timed Shutdown. You can then use this program to shut down your PC after JBidWatcher has done it’s work. Regards Hoddy

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Cannot add auction...either invalid or communication error

Hi, Open JBidWatcher and click on ‘Windows’ on the menu bar and then click on ‘Search Manager’. In the box that pops up highlight the ‘My Ebay’ search and click ob ‘Edit’. Check that the destination is set to the Current tab. If all else fails go and delete the .jbidwatcher folder (make sure jbidwatcher is closed) found in the C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME folder. Re start Jdidwatcher and if still no items check the ‘My Ebay’ search destination again.

Comment Topic: Announcements / [PreRelease] JBidwatcher 2.5.3pre4

I’m afraid not working for me – no longer bids – the error log shows: Wed Mar 20 09:04:02 GMT 2013: PMQ Caught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException. Otherwise interface seems ok – I found that deleting the old database and getting ‘My Items’ afreash cured the (null) problem for items. The only other problem I can see is that if fails to get the number of bids for items that have a ‘Buy it now’ price but are also up for auction. But for now EbayWatcher is unusable as it doesn’t bid. I’ve tested on two different PC’s both running Windows XP (32 bit) with Java 7 update 17.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / jbidwatcher on wrong time zone

Hi, Sounds like your Ubuntu timeserver is set to the wrong timezone and that you are on PDT not UTC. I suggest you check and make sure that your county and city are correct with Ubuntu.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / (Almost) all auctions showing FP

Hi Paddy, It’s no longer worth moving server as it’s now ‘blanket’ (FP’s) which ever server you use. Thanks to other users the problem is really now only cosmetic as you can still set a snipe by either using the ‘hammer’ icon (thanks Francois) or by making a change in the config so that the ‘Double Click’ setting is ‘Initiates a snipe on the givern auction’ (thanks Belin). Once set the snipe takes place regardless of the item showing (FP). So it looks like we are ’back in busness)! :-)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / JBitwatcher does not work for me (FP problem), what are the alternatives?

Have you tried Gixen (http://www.gixen.com/). This is a free service and you can download a desktop app if required.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / (Almost) all auctions showing FP

Have now been running JBidWatcher on two different PC’s in two different locations and using two different Ebay Users for the last couple of hours. Have kept updating the server/auctions and still alls well. You might need to do a File:Dump Cache to make sure that you aren’t carrying anything over in the cache. My snipe fired ok but as I conservative with my bidding I didn’t win. So if you are having (FP) problem then try the following:
1) Login to Ebay.com and add a USA $ listing to your watched list.
2) Change your JBidWatcher config (File:Configure:Ebay) from Ebay.co.uk to Ebay.com
3) Dump the cache (File:Dump Cache)
4) Restart JBidWatcher and get your Ebay items (Ebay:Get My Ebay Items)
5) Update your auctions (Server:Update Auctions)

Hopefully you can now snipe……….

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / (Almost) all auctions showing FP

Have now tried the change to Ebay.com on different machines and it works 100% (in the UK) – if I change back to Ebay.co.uk all the auctions (with the exception of the items in USA $‘s on Ebay.com) go back to being (FP). I assume users in the USA using Ebay.co don’t have a problem.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / (Almost) all auctions showing FP

Hi paddym – Don’t expect any problems as JBidWatcher uses Ebay.com to bid regardless of which country you are in. So no side-effects expected but I will know better within the next couple of hours as I have a ‘snipe’ set! Will report back if I have any problems.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / (Almost) all auctions showing FP

I am in the UK but have just discovered that I login to Ebay.com and add items to JBidWatcher that are in $‘s they do NOT have the (FP)!. Have now changed my JBidWatcher config (File:Configure:Ebay) from Ebay.co.uk to Ebay.com. Restarted JBidWatcher and did a Server:Update Auctions and the (FP)’s have gone!! Can now snipe again…….. :-)

After trying this on another PC it seems to only work if you have logged into Ebay.com online first. So make sure you have logged into Ebay.com online before making the changes.

I’m also now getting a constant (FP) on every auction so sniping now unfortunatly broken. I’m in the UK using Win XP and Java Version 7 Update 7 and also tested with Java Version 6 Update 35. Whatever Ebay has changed it now seems universal!

Same has happen here in the UK. ALL auctions now show as (FP) so has had the effect of killing JBidwatcher as it will not snipe on (FP) items. Come back Morgan all is forgivern! :-)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Strike Through - Not Communicating with Server

Hi, Go to ‘File’ then ‘Configure’ and if prompted enter your Username and Password (redo as you might have entered the password incorrectly) press the ‘Test Login’ button. If not prompted for your Username and password click on the ‘Ebay’ tab and enter them again here If you get the reply ‘Successfully logged in’ then job done. If you get ‘Login failed’ then click ‘Firewall’ tab (if you don’t see the tabs then click on advanced first) – do you need to enter a proxy here or is there a proxy listed here that you do not need. Enter or delete as neccessary then go back to the ‘Ebay’ tab and re-test. Should now be working…….

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Linux: "Time left" 1hr too much

Don’t think it’s a problem with the UK time change to GMT. If you check the other posts you will see that it’s affecting people all over the world! I assume it must be a problem with Ebay.com as JBidWatcher uses this site to fire it’s snipes. Seems to be completely random in which auctions it affects. I have ‘Syconized Time’ and now are carefully watching the six auctions I have snipes on that end within the next two hours. At the moment the times are correct and all counting down nicely……..

Hoddy

Spoke to soon – one of the auctions got to 20 minutes then changed to 1hour 20 minutes! Very frustrating………….

Have the same problem here in the UK. The time is changing on the auctions with less than an hour to go – an hour is being added to the time! So an auction with 15 minutes left is now shown in JBidWatcher as having 1hour 15 minutes to go. Anybody have an explanation why?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Max Bid not synchronizing and others

1. When I bid with JBidwatcher there are no problems. However, if I bid on eBay, my Max Bid is not synchronized to JBidwatcher.
‘Max Bid’ is the max bid you made using JBidWatcher. The program used to display your bid made by Ebay but hasn’t done so for a while.

2. Using the default My eBay search, only items in my watchlist are loaded in JBidwatcher. Items I’m bidding on, but not watching, are not loaded.
Again normal behaviour now – you can add your ‘watched’ items by creating a new search (Type URL) and copying the URL of your watched items page.

3. When I remove an item from my watchlist on eBay after loading it in JBidwatcher, the default My eBay search does not remove it from JBidwatcher. When I Delete an auction in JBidwatcher, it is not removed from my watchlist on eBay.

This is normal. JBidWatcher does not synchronize with your Ebay account.

Have you got ‘Logging’ ticked in the configeration manager under the ‘General’ tab? If so you should be able to view the Errors log (it’s under the ‘Windows’ tab on the main screen).

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Time Left" showing "N/A"

JBidWatcher is the same as any other ‘snipe’ program and has problems when Ebay start making changes. You shouldn’t be seeing N/A for the time left for auctions but you will see it for ‘Buy it Now’ sales as Ebay no longer displays the time left for these type of listings in ‘Watch Lists’ or ‘Searches’ – can’t imagine why? How do you add listings to JBidWatcher? I normally do my searches in Ebay and then add them using the ‘Get My Ebay Items’ menu item. I wouldn’t expect your snipes to fire if JBidWatcher doesn’t know when to fire them. Do make sure you are using the latest version of JBidWatcher – 2.1.5.

You normally get this statement if the bidding is already more than your snipe when your snipe is ‘fired’. ie Your snipe was to low!

Alan, Sorry for the late reply but I’m out of the UK at the moment. All you can try is re installing Java making sure that you don’t install a USA version (assuming you are not in the USA). See: http://www.java.com/en/
