Topic: Problems with JBidWatcher 2.0.1 Beta 2

Greetings,
Actually, yes; logs of the failed-to-cancel multisnipes would be very helpful. I need to at least have a basic fix for that before releasing 2.0.1. I thought 2.0.1pre2 had a fix in it that would help, but evidently I was mistaken. :(

If you could attach the log/logs to ticket #696 I’d appreciate it a lot.

Hi Morgan, your 2.0.1 did the trick for me. I had been having problems with JBW only showing about a dozen of my watched auctions. Playing with eBay’s number of listings per page was not resolving the issue. All of my watched auctions are now listed. Great job!

Yup – I also have Michael’s problem – add an auction, close JBW and the auction is lost from view, but unable to be put back.

Topic: Missed snipe

Thanks for all your work on this app. The first time it actually helps me snipe an item, I’ll donate. In the mean time, the most recent version I got is worthless. I had 2 trial snipes set up, 1st time with 8s, second time with 15s, and they were both “cancelled” with the same error as everybody else is getting. If I have to set the time longer than 15s, well then, it won’t be sniping anymore because I can manually snipe at 10s no problem. I hope this gets fixed; I really want to like this app.

Topic: 2.0 won't add auctions

Greetings,
I’ve put up a 2.0.1 pre-release based on SVN revision 819. You can tell the version number by looking in Help | About and looking for 2.0.1pre2-819.

It’s available via:

Windows: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.0.1pre2.exe

Mac OS X: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.0.1pre2.dmg

Linux & other: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.0.1pre2.jar

This is a total test version; it will not be very fast, and it will create a really large file named ‘derby.log’ in the JBidwatcher data directory, but if you have any more problems, the logs will help me a lot. It may also create a ‘recovered’ tab, which will have auctions that had gotten orphaned. The listings you added, and couldn’t re-add after closing and restarting aren’t orphaned, they should show up in the ‘right spots’, as per where they were before. It should also fix the CPU overload/freeze on startup.

I believe it will also fix the ‘freeze on check login’ problem. It’s a CAPTCHA problem which means JBidwatcher’s not going to be useful to you anyhow until the CAPTCHA goes away, but at least JBidwatcher won’t freak out anymore, and will basically recognize it.

I could really use feedback on this, so I can hopefully release it this weekend.

Aha! Good idea, indeed! I went into the Cyberfox folder and there were all of the JBW Beta 2 .exe files (2, 8, 10 and 11). I copied the Beta11 shortcut to my desktop, ran it and all is well. It even shows the auctions that were added (and disappeared) when I was using 2.0. Thanks for your help Hoddy.

Topic: 2.0 won't add auctions

I have tried IE Explorer, Mozella Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari and I get the same results from all of them: When I click Auctions/Add I can add an auction number but when I close JBW and then reopen it, that auction has disappeared (and it won’t let me add that auction again – it says that it has already been added). When I click Edit/Paste Auction, I get an error message (once again, when I try to add it again, instead of the error message it says that it has already been added). As I said, I get the same results in all 4 browsers. I have been using JBW for several years with never a problem until I installed 2.0. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Topic: Items in list not showing error...

Greetings,

I’m falling asleep at the keyboard, but I’ve put a first-pass attempt at fixing some of the problems up at:

Windows: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.0.1pre1.exe

Mac OS X: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.0.1pre1.dmg

Linux & other: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher-2.0.1pre1.jar

This is a total test version; it will probably not be very fast, and it will create a really large file named ‘derby.log’ in the JBidwatcher data directory, but if you have any more problems, the logs will help me a lot. It may also create a ‘recovered’ tab, which will have auctions that had gotten orphaned. The listings you added, and couldn’t re-add after closing and restarting aren’t orphaned, they should show up in the ‘right spots’, as per where they were before.

I’m going to fall asleep for a few hours now…

Topic: Items in list not showing error...

Greetings,

I’m putting together a test release of the 2.0.1 version. I am pretty sure it fixes the ‘lost auction’ problem; it also includes debugging help to find the ‘slow start up’ problem, but it looks like folks in this thread are having lost auctions more than slow start up.

@Ron – I just tested color setting and it seemed to work okay; what’s happening for you? (Or, optimally, create a ticket on Lighthouse describing the problem, so we don’t hijack this thread.)

You can probably find your auctions in the Complete tab. Of course they should not be there! I am wondering if my Snipe will run or not. Unfortunately, I do not have an old version and can’t find one on-line.

Well, I closed the program & when I reopened it, my auction was gone & it would not allow me to paste it saying it was already in my auction list.

Further, when I tried to change my background color to tan, it did not work as it has in the past. Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed version. 2.0 & am having the same problem trying to add auction #170303099063. I get the message that the auction is already in my auction list. I uninstalled the program & still have the same problem after re-installation. Do I need to go back to beta version 2.11? Thanks!

I am running the new 2.0 version, just upgraded yesterday. I am not seeing all of my auctions show up. If I try to add manually – I get an error that they are already in the list. I changed my ebay preferences to show 25, didn’t seem to make a difference. The error log is copied below:

Topic: Missed snipe

@Morgan: No, there were absolutely no other messages; the snipes weren’t even prepared. It seems the auctions were canceled during the normal update. Here’s the log for the two auctions:

The first auction ended 16:09:58 MEZ, the second one at 16:32:13 MEZ. I am a bit puzzled that JBidwatcher uses GMT – could that be the cause of the problem? Does it maybe try to bid at 16:09 GMT?

Greetings,

@dengel – Were there any other messages? Loading bid form, etc.? I’d like to see your log files, as the case you’re describing is exactly one that JBidwatcher 2.0 fixes. Feel free to open up a new ticket and attach them to the new ticket. (There’s an ‘Attach a file’ form at the bottom of new ticket creation.)

I just had two failed snipes on ebay.de; both are auctions which only ship to Germany, so they were not visible on ebay.com. Both snipes failed with “auction is reported as ended”. Sniping time was set to 10 seconds, which usually never fails on my line.
