I am excited, Morgan, that you’ve pre-released a new version of JBidWatcher!

One tiny nit that you might want to fix is the size of the “Adding” dialog box which prompts for an auction number. It needs to be a bit taller. Here’s a screenshot:

That’s under Windows 7 with the default (“100%”) display “DPI” text setting, and Java 8 Update 66.

(BTW, JBidWatcher is the only reason I have Java installed on my computers.)

Gratefully yours,
Dave

I noticed one small issue just now: the “shipping” column is not shown by default.

It is still available under Tab -> Custom Columns, but since “set shipping” is still available in the right-click menu, and the “subtract shipping” option is still available when sniping, I think the shipping column should be enabled by default (even though I see that JBidWatcher still doesn’t manage to scrape the shipping cost from the web page).

Also, I still miss multi-snipe!

Greetings,
Thanks! I’m excited too, although this release is…not going very well. sigh

Definitely; fixing the Add dialog’s size on Windows is on my list of must-fix-before-3.0 bugs. It should be straightforward.

Shipping is a tough one; eBay has gotten more and more serious about shipping being a very custom field, figuring it out on the fly, which makes it harder to extract. I can understand the desire to see it as a default field, but I don’t want to make the defaults too cluttered. I’ll poke at it and see what I can do.

p.s. I miss multi-snipe too, but a few folks ended up buying multiple items, and that put the kibosh on that pretty fast. If I can’t feel confident that it’ll ‘do no harm’ for thousands of people under weird eBay conditions, I have a hard time including it.

Hi Horgan, great to see the update and just won my first snipe on the beta, so it works!
I have been bimbling along with 2.5.6 which, although a bit clunky, has never let me down.
Many thanks,
Roger W.

Hi Morgan,

Thanks for your continued support of jBidWatcher! The beta is cool, but there are at least two problems with it that made me run screaming back to an older version 1) My ebay userID and current time keep flickering up and down by a few pixels every second. 2) I can no longer drag and drop an auction from RSSReader directly onto the jBidWatcher window. I am using Win7x64.

Cheers!
