in Debian Etch, Debian Sid, and Fedora 4. I have been successfully sniping at 20 seconds on a relatively fast connection. I probably can trim that down, but on a couple of occasions it was an item I wanted, and did not want to test it closer.

I have not tried multisniping. When I use it on dialup, you have to naturally move the snipes further out to allow for the slower connection. If you have multiple items ending a few minutes apart that could be a problem on dialup, just the extra closing chatter with Ebay near the end of the auction. This is a function of low bandwidth of dialup rather than JBidwatcher, but worth remembering.
