Same thing here; logs in but with a yellow button. Had been working fine the last time the program was used (about a month ago). Has eBay made some changes?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Let's pay Morgan for a fully working version

Morgan, I’d like to get your opinion (and the opinion of others here) on the idea of us paying you, say, $1 for each successful snipe. I’d certainly be willing to pay that token amount, and I suspect you would make a decent amount of money that would help you out and offer additional motivation to keep on top of eBay changes down the road.

Comment Topic: Announcements / [PreRelease] JBidwatcher 2.5.3pre4

Morgan, wanted to let you know I’m running 2.5.2-0-g8e3723d, and have used the program maybe a half-dozen times in the past year. Won every snipe where I was not outbid (15 sec snipes) and only once did the program not work the way I expected it to—basically, I changed the maximum bid price and somehow it refused to fire at the proper time.

Anyway, given how eBay constantly changes its site, I appreciate the work you do here. I’d been using Auction Sentry for a long time but as you know it changed to a subscription model (at least I think that’s what happened). I’ll be making a donation on PayPal to give you a bit of extra cash. Thanks—Richard Iredale

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Perhaps Morgan should change to shareware?

Morgan, I’m brand-new to JBW, having used Auction Sentry for years on numerous snipes.

I can understand the frustration of spending lots of time fixing things when eBay decides to change things—and without seeing much compensation.

Selling the program outright for, say, $49.95 (including lifetime updates) would be one common option. Another would be to slightly modify the current program to include a space on the header that would increment $1 for each successful snipe, and then suggest a donation in that amount.

So after using the program for a while it might show a suggested donation of $7. I’d be inclined to make that donation, for two reasons: (1) there are few programs out there that do this snipe task well, and (2) the very nature of this app demands that it be updated as soon as possible after eBay makes changes to their website. You can’t be expected to work for nothing. And $1 for a successful snipe is a trivial fee to pay.

I would NOT be interested in a cloud-based version. I want total control on my machine. And I don’t share concerns with those who complain that they forget and turn their PCs off. If you have a pending snipe, leave it on!

Best regards.
