Comment Topic: Announcements / [PreRelease] JBidwatcher 2.5.3pre4

Hi Morgan!
I just downloaded and started the 2.5.3pre4 Windows version. At the moment I don’t have any auctions in the Current tab, just ca. 20 in the Complete area.
2.5.3pre4 seems to correct most of the display problems. The only exception is item 200842243333, where the seller is shown as “Q&A” (in the information window it’s shown as Q&A).
In case you need additional information, please let me know and describe what I have to do to retrieve it.
Many thanks!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Q&A making a return

Same problem here yesterday (WinBlows XP SP3). Surprisingly enough though, today the displayed information is back to normal, it stays that way even after I use Update Auction on an item.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / fix for (FP) problem

The ‘patched version’ is the .exe file you can find on Page 1 of this thread, inside the first message, Update section. ;)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / fix for (FP) problem

@mrmarkf:
I’m afraid this method amounts to a ‘correction roulette’ of sorts: at times it worked for me as well, but most of the time it didn’t.
In other words, success might depend on which ebay server jBaywatcher is ‘talking to’ when updating: some of those servers have the older software version running, which leads to a successful (jBaywatcher) information update. :-(

I just switched to hobbes’ patched 2.5.2 version.
Current prices and times left are now correctly displayed (no snipes needed to fire yet). Thank you hobbes!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Morgan, still here ???

@afleance: Many thanks for pointing to the new issue tracker!
@Morgan Schweers: I’m truly sorry to hear about the “travelling crud” you were suffering from, I hope the entire family is feeling better already.
One more thing: in case you find the time for it in the future, please mention the issue tracker link in the (online) jBidwatcher Help area: I only discovered the former by chance, when afleance mentioned it… Thank you so much!

Hi ctalmeida,
many thanks for sharing that with us!
I just tested that workaround, it didn’t work here either.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / (Almost) all auctions showing FP

Signed off on eBay, dumped jBidwatcher cache, cleared jBidwatcher deleted tracking, restarted jBidwatcher, signed on on eBay again, refreshed auctions on jBidwatcher, No effect, all jBidwatcher auctions still on (FP). Morgan… help?! ;-)

Comment Topic: General Sniping Discussion / Can`t snipe on FP maked auctions

Hi Vaughan!
I’m seeing the same FP issue – again – on my sniper this morning, so I checked the forums once more to see what’s new.
After reading your post I did the same: signed off on eBay, signed on again, then refreshed the pending auctions on jBidwatcher. Unfortunately, the trick didn’t work for me.
Many thanks nevertheless.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / (Almost) all auctions showing FP

Win XP SP3, freshly installed JBidwatcher 2.5.2. This morning most of the auctions showed (FP) again. ‘Update all auctions’ didn’t correct the problem, restarting JBidwatcher however did.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / login problem

Hi Marcel!
I had similar problems in the past, only to find out that I was not running the last Java version available. First of all go to the Java Console and see if you can get an update, maybe that takes care of the problem.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / Multisnipe: how to bid more for newer item?

First set a multisnipe for all similar items you’re interested in. After that you can change the individual Max amounts for those items. ;)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / null price information for auctions today!

Yes, similar situation here. [WinXP SP3, Java SE 6 U30]
I have defined a Won and a Not Won tab (and believe to have defined the Tab Properties correctly). However, for the last 3 versions (roughly) the items have been moving to the wrong tabs after auction end, sometimes even creating a new, unnamed tab. I needed to move them manually.
[edit] Maybe related to the former issue: a (n usually empty) Recovered tab has been appearing when starting JBidwatcher.
Yesterday I installed 2.2pre2 and it got worse: the items couldn’t even be moved ‘to the rightful tabs’, they were like stuck with super-glue!
So I’m back to 2.1.6-0-geb75036 now, I can move the items around manually.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Still trying --- Actually - I figured it out !!!

Greetings from Vienna! :)
I have a similar problem – “Jbidwatcher can’t access its database” etc. – since this morning.
After ‘trying the soft approach’ I was forced to completely remove Java (as far as I could tell, that is), even remove JBidwatcher, then do a clean(?) Java install and reinstall JBidwatcher.
Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to work, so I was left without JBidwatcher for almost a day.
Can you Please send me a checklist with All the steps you went through to make it work again? I’m at the end of my rope… :-(((
[..and I don’t want to risk installing JBidwatcher and failing Yet Again because of missing necessary steps.]
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Valentin

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / Feature request or Help

Hi!
Unfortunately I’m (still) on XP, so I can’t give you reliable information on where to look for the right spot for that specific setting… The best thing I could think of is asking somebody you know, that also uses Windows 7 and ALSO knows about this kind of tweaks. It SHOULD be possible.
I’m really sorry I couldn’t help you more. Good luck!
Regards.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / Feature request or Help

Hi!
Assuming you’re on a Windows machine, I suggest you
- go to the Startup folder (Start/Programs/Startup),
- right-click on the JBidwatcher entry,
- choose Properties,
- in the ‘Run:’ area open the drop-down list and pick “Minimized”.
- press the “Apply” button, then the “OK” button to exit.
Do a fresh boot when you get the chance, to test the effects of the modification.
I hope this helps. Ta!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Snipe amount column

Hello again Morgan! ^_ ^
My first reaction was of course ‘why the heck didn’t I think of THAT?‘, then I tried it (to make my humiliation perfect LOL), just to discover that right-clicking on the tab name has the same effect ’left-clicking’ has: it SORTS the rows! :-O
I’m on JBidwatcher (2.1.5-), WinXP SP3.
Best wishes to the Schweers ‘team’! ;)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Snipe amount column

Hi!
To the right of the column headers there should be a button with the ellipsis sign on it, it looks like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis
Click on it and you’ll get a list of all available columns.
Hope this helps. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / am i logged in or not?

Hi Morgan!
I’m running JBidwatcher (2.1.5-) on a WinXP SP3 (Professional) system. This afternoon JBidwatcher has started (again) showing the yellow light in the login area. The ‘Mature Audiences option’ has been OFF for quite a long time already.
Sorry to bring you this kind of news.
All the best to all your familiy, Morgan! _
Kind regards,
Valentin
