Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / null price information for auctions today!

Yes, similar situation here. [WinXP SP3, Java SE 6 U30]
I have defined a Won and a Not Won tab (and believe to have defined the Tab Properties correctly). However, for the last 3 versions (roughly) the items have been moving to the wrong tabs after auction end, sometimes even creating a new, unnamed tab. I needed to move them manually.
[edit] Maybe related to the former issue: a (n usually empty) Recovered tab has been appearing when starting JBidwatcher.
Yesterday I installed 2.2pre2 and it got worse: the items couldn’t even be moved ‘to the rightful tabs’, they were like stuck with super-glue!
So I’m back to 2.1.6-0-geb75036 now, I can move the items around manually.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Still trying --- Actually - I figured it out !!!

Greetings from Vienna! :)
I have a similar problem – “Jbidwatcher can’t access its database” etc. – since this morning.
After ‘trying the soft approach’ I was forced to completely remove Java (as far as I could tell, that is), even remove JBidwatcher, then do a clean(?) Java install and reinstall JBidwatcher.
Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to work, so I was left without JBidwatcher for almost a day.
Can you Please send me a checklist with All the steps you went through to make it work again? I’m at the end of my rope… :-(((
[..and I don’t want to risk installing JBidwatcher and failing Yet Again because of missing necessary steps.]
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Valentin

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / Feature request or Help

Hi!
Unfortunately I’m (still) on XP, so I can’t give you reliable information on where to look for the right spot for that specific setting… The best thing I could think of is asking somebody you know, that also uses Windows 7 and ALSO knows about this kind of tweaks. It SHOULD be possible.
I’m really sorry I couldn’t help you more. Good luck!
Regards.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / Feature request or Help

Hi!
Assuming you’re on a Windows machine, I suggest you
- go to the Startup folder (Start/Programs/Startup),
- right-click on the JBidwatcher entry,
- choose Properties,
- in the ‘Run:’ area open the drop-down list and pick “Minimized”.
- press the “Apply” button, then the “OK” button to exit.
Do a fresh boot when you get the chance, to test the effects of the modification.
I hope this helps. Ta!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Snipe amount column

Hello again Morgan! ^_ ^
My first reaction was of course ‘why the heck didn’t I think of THAT?‘, then I tried it (to make my humiliation perfect LOL), just to discover that right-clicking on the tab name has the same effect ’left-clicking’ has: it SORTS the rows! :-O
I’m on JBidwatcher (2.1.5-), WinXP SP3.
Best wishes to the Schweers ‘team’! ;)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Snipe amount column

Hi!
To the right of the column headers there should be a button with the ellipsis sign on it, it looks like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis
Click on it and you’ll get a list of all available columns.
Hope this helps. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / am i logged in or not?

Hi Morgan!
I’m running JBidwatcher (2.1.5-) on a WinXP SP3 (Professional) system. This afternoon JBidwatcher has started (again) showing the yellow light in the login area. The ‘Mature Audiences option’ has been OFF for quite a long time already.
Sorry to bring you this kind of news.
All the best to all your familiy, Morgan! _
Kind regards,
Valentin

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Not logged in icon

Hi vfsi!
I’d suggest moving to the latest Java (6.0.25), ideally using JavaRa to remove (any traces of) previous Java installations FIRST, which their installers infamously don’t do:
http://raproducts.org/wordpress/software
And here’s the link to the newest Java:
http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?d…
I hope this will solve your problem. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Need to snipe at national ebay site

Hi everybody.
I had the same situation, more than once, and the way of dealing with it was pretty straightforward: simply sign in on the eBay site the message was mentioning. On that particular page the dispute CAN be started successfully.
Hope this helps, have a nice time on eBay.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Deleted Item" (RED triangle) for existing items

All the ‘symptoms’ I was mentioning before have now disappeared, ‘Update Auction’ seems to ‘remediate the problem’. Thank you. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Deleted Item" (RED triangle) for existing items

Here are some more item numbers that have recently got the red triangle:
300536213250
300536213247
300536213270
300536213264
300535941081
300536035416
300536200426
300535738688
300536343024
The JBidwatcher View states ‘Item no longer appears on the server’, using the item number directly spots the item though.
Deleting an item from the sniper and trying to add it again results in the ‘cannot add item…, either invalid or comms error’ AND a strikethrough in the upper right login area. Doing an update for another, ‘valid’, item removes the strikethrough.
Thanks Morgan. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Deleted Item" (RED triangle) for existing items

Hi Morgan!
I recently discovered 3 items that trigger the red triangle. The ‘Show In Browser’ command works just fine.
I already tried removing the items and adding them to the sniper once more, the result is the same: red triangle in spite of an existing eBay article number.
Here are the ‘evildoers’:
110658334348
110658835306
110659448628
By the way, the ‘Update Auction’ shows no ‘effect in the status bar’ for these 3 items.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Snipes not firing due to unknown and unmet requirements.

I have spotted a new problem which might be related to this thread: I’m beginning to get red triangle (Deleted Item) icons for items I already added. Here are their eBay numbers:
280638160679
280636603575
280636203969
280636627622
280637071820
Thank you Morgan. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Invalid Item" (yellow triangle)

@lkdudne:
You don’t bother me at all, ’we’re in this together’. ;)
I can tell you how I ‘administrate’ the different jBidwatcher versions, you can then decide what you feel suits you best.
First of all, the .exe (application) sits in the:
C:\Program Files\CyberFOX Software\JBidwatcher2\
folder, that’s the right folder to put it in (download it to). For ‘security reasons’ I have decided to keep the last 4-5 versions of the application at all times. Bear with me… ;)
Second: on my PC there are more places where I can go to start jBidwatcher:
- Start(green button)/Programs/jBidwatcher(folder)/jBidwatcher(application)
- Autostart/jBidwatcher(application) and
- taskbar symbol on the left hand (shortcut to the application).
The way to make sure I’m really starting the jBidwatcher version that I want is to got to each of these shortcuts and set the target as needed:
- right-click
- Properties
- Target, then ‘tweak’ the application name.
I hope my kept my ‘instructions’ easy to understand, good luck. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Invalid Item" (yellow triangle)

@ lkdudne:
The standalone is the executable file only, as opposed to the installer package that also allows you to decide on things like folders, functions etc. You will need to ‘manually’ place it in the correct folder and check/replace any associated shortcuts. Thank you. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Invalid Item" (yellow triangle)

Update 1: I just spotted something that could be relevant:
item 230585551644 – DOES NOT ‘trigger’ the yellow triangle – creates the following link when using the ‘Show In Browser’ command:
http://localhost:9099/230585551644
item 370484176366 – which DOES ‘trigger’ the yellow triangle – by contrast, creates the following:
http://localhost:9099/cached_370484176366

Update 2: I just read brucknerdoc ‘s post, I’m getting the same reaction when I try to add new items to Jbidwatcher (‘wrong item number or no connection to server’, strikethrough in login area).

Update 3: First ‘failed snipe’. Iitem 370484176366 (STING * LIVE * not authorized * CD ALBUM …) repeatedly ‘Failed to load from server!’ / ‘Communications failure talking to the server’.

Thanks a lot for your assistance, Morgan!
Valentin

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Invalid Item" (yellow triangle)

Hi Morgan,
Virtually all the items I move to JBidwatcher are auction items, so this is the case for all items that (still) show the yellow triangle.
Kindly let me know which is the most ‘elegant’ way to pass you ‘my Jbidwatcher items’. =)
Would a screen capture do as well?
Additionally to the aforementioned issue: I’m just trying to add some new items, Jbidwatcher gives me the ‘cannot add auction…’ warning for the item nr. 380318378190! :-s

Thanks a lot for your assistance, Morgan!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Invalid Item" (yellow triangle)

Sometime during the last 12 hours, the USD and GBP auctions have begun showing the “Invalid Item” warning symbol. The EUR auctions don’t show the same ‘behavior’.
None of my auctions ended in the meantime, so I have no information regarding snipe attempts unfortunately.
Thank you. :)

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / 2.1.2 - 100% cpu load

Hi Morgan!
I’m already on JBidwatcher 2.1.3 (Win XP Pro 5.1.2600).
I installed Java Runtime Update 23 (build 1.6.0_23-b05) yesterday, the heavy CPU load problem seems to be solved now.
1. There is another issue I spotted: I’m not able to move auctions to my custom tabs (‘won’, ‘not won’) anymore, the dropdown list appearing when trying to ‘send to [tab]’ simply doesn’t show them.
2. Some of the won auction items have still been shown as (FP) after moving to 2.1.3.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! ^ _ ^

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Not sniping

Hi Morgan!
I discovered 2.1.3pre2- and installed it, here’s my report on its sniping behaviour: :o)
snipes do work now, but afterwards the items are sometimes moved directly to the complete tab, instead of the won or not won ‘custom tabs’.
Also:
1. auctioned items are shown as FP items
2. CPU usage still hovers around 100% as long as the window is visible (as opposed to collapsed to a taskbar icon) .
Many thanks Morgan, best wishes to all the family. =)
