I set 1 item to snipe today, and I won again today, very happy. It’s a discontinued product that I use so I am happy JBW did the job for me again.

Item started at $49.99, with 1 big, towards the end, and I set mine to $53 and I left for the day, and while out about, my iPhone received the email that I’d won at $51.00 :D

If you are having sniping issue, it’s really something you need to investigate, as Ivanovich indicated, itcould be any one of a number of things …….

Where are you located? The Mac only ships to Germany and the Yamaha has a huge exclusion list for shipping?

Also make sure that you aren’t making the beginners error of letting your computer go to sleep (I’m to lazy to recalculate time zones to check).

The “unknown error” message only means that JBid can’t tell why the snipe didn’t come through.

It could be any one of a number of things; snipe time set to close to auction end, comms error, restrictions set by the seller, bid to low to be accepted, or anything else.

If you really want to be sure that your snipe comes through you should use more than one sniper then you will have eliminated software failure as the cause of not winning.

I have JBidwatcher (2.5-0-g8f10beb) running on OS X on 2 machines, and both working fine with some annoying NULL pricing on B-I-N listings.

My sniping went well as usual today, but I did not win boz I am too cheap, I snipe at $31 and it went for $41.

JBW works fine for me still to snipe and I have been wining still and I had donated 3 times every time I win an item at a ridiculously low winning bid bcoz of the snipe from JBW.

I am using both Mac OS X 10.6.8. and 10.7.3 latest java patch for the malware.

so if I can’t snipe with Jbidwatcher it is worth nothing ! Didn’t have problems like this recent ones in former versions …

Some of eBay’s servers had a “glitch” some hours ago. I lost a couple of auctions as well and was unable to browse the site getting repeted “password incorrect” messages.

Yes – I have had this problem as well – not that the snipe was rejected recently with 2.5 but previously and the reason was exactly what Ivan describes.

I now have shipping addresses in the various countries where I do get items from ebay so this problem has “disappeared” for me, but before that. it it was an item I was REALLY interested in, I would just try a “test bid” early in the auction to see if it would go through.
Only way I can think of for this problem – seller does not ship to your location.
If it turns out that this is a problem, you can always contact the seller to see if he will allow you to bid if you agree on shipping arrangements beforehand.

There are several reasons for a snipe to be rejected, in this case it could be that the seller has shipping restrictions set (don’t accept bids from places I don’t ship to).

My wife isn’t happy. An auction she really cared about came and went, due a failed snipe.

A few minutes ago, an auction I cared about was lost in the same way. It seems 2.5-0-g8f10beb has some problems.

It was the mature option the trouble, since the previous versions worked great even if with the firewall on (I configured the Java applications to pass through it) :)
I tried turning that auction option “on” while testing why the previous 2.0 version did not work properly ^^;;
And didn’t thought it would give troubles in the future…
Anyway, thanks a lot for your help and for your job on this program!!!
It really helps me so much!

Oh! Hey, first things first, @Yu_Kanda – turn off the Mature Audiences checkbox on your ‘eBay’ tab of JBidwatcher’s Configuration Manager.

That really shouldn’t be on, unless you are bidding on items in that section of eBay, and have a native ebay.com account. It makes the login process a good bit more complex even in those cases.

(Sorry @Exolon; yours doesn’t appear to be that.)
