When I use the search manager I always use the URL-Search feature. Some of my these searches are very “special”, so I get only a few results, sometimes only one result in a week. If the search runs and there is no appropriate result, jbidwatcher reports “Failed to load from URL”. This message made me think that there was some kind of “real” error like some parsing problem or other serious issues like a change in ebay’s way to display search results, but i’ve learned that it also appears when there is just no result to my search. My suggestion: “Failed to load form URL” should only appear when there is a serious problem, while there could be another message like “no results on URL search” if the search had no results. As always, a BIG “thank you” for this great application. Keep up the good work! —evildude |

Hi Morgan! This happened on two searches so far. I drop the links here for you to check http://shop.ebay.de/items/?_nkw=eckbank&_in_kw=... http://shop.ebay.de/items/?_nkw=Postfahrrad+Pos… At least the first one (“Eckbank”) shows several results when loaded in Firefox. Thu Sep 11 10:14:17 CEST 2008: Unable to find item count on page! URL: http://shop.ebay.de/items/?_nkw=eckbank&_in_kw=... The second search (Postfahrrad, Postrad…) is very restrictive in options and only shows results about once a week. Today there were zero results in Firefox :-) I’m using jbw 2b8 on Ubuntu. JRE Package ist sun-java6-jre 6-06-0ubuntu1. Can you tell me If II am doing wrong something or if this points to a bug in JBW? Thanx, Markus aka evildude |

There’s only one thing I can recommend to you, max6166: Try to start over with a “clean” installation by deleting /home/yourname/.jbidwatcher (don’t know where it is in Windows in case you’re using that) and start over with jbidwatcher. I also had a messed up database with an earlier beta version and after clearing the directory and reinstalling (the latter might have been useless anyway) I’m only experiencing the usual beta issues but nothing that renders jbw unusable, It just sniped nice stuff when I was away some time ago… |

While reading a bunch of messages about duplicate Items I just thought why I didn’t Might the duplicate items-problem be connected to reading the “my ebay”-Items Some time ago (using v1.02 then) I have totally abandoned the “my ebay”-feature There are still problems with this approach (disappearing Tabs, see other thread), I only know that the “my ebay”-Page with watched Items is formatted differently Enough for now, greetings Markus aka evildude |

Another addition to this: I’ve tried to recreate a Tab that had disappeared since last shutdown, and after clicking ‘OK’, my terminal showed this:

Okay, I’ve tried it: The new tab with the auction is still there (but on another position, which is okay for me), the empty one is gone. Here’s the Log from the terminal window:
Hmmm nothing suspicious but
Don’t know if that was significant to the problem… cheers, Markus |

Similar Problem here (jbw 2.0b7) : I can’t keep tabs added. Once I restart jbw, they’re all gone. I reproduced this several times. There are some URL-searches that drop their results into these tabs. (Computer-Related to Tab “TECH” for example) I regularly check these Tabs, move the interesting results to “current and delete the others. The problems with desappearing Tabs seems to only appear when the particular Tab is empty, but I have to check that again to be sure. Hope this helps so far. I can send Logs if needed :-) Greetings, Markus |
