Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Current bidding price not updating.

please read other posts and install the 2.21pre1 version … most are improved and you should quit JBW and re-launch if auto update still does not work.

I think maybe you should try the new pre-release version – Bidwatcher (2.2pre1-20-g63dd570)

I am using it as it’s better than the 2.1.6 I use before.

I loaded your item 270898440082, and it showed the listing as being ended and with the proper high bid sold price with Bidwatcher (2.2pre1-20-g63dd570)

try seach a bit on the forum on the new Bidwatcher (2.2pre1-20-g63dd570) download links and check it out. I think you do need to quit JBW and re-launch once in a while to “refresh”. Good luck!

Hi Morgan, please do not worry about JBW until your life is back to normal again. I know a few people who are being effected by the snow storm with power grid problems and it’s not fun at all.

Take care of yourself and your family. Wish you guys get the power back online soon.

JBW is working somewhat and I just keep re-launching and I can snipe and I am still winning my share of good deals on ebay. Thanks.

then funny things happened. For whatever reasons, the listings are all being updated after JBW was launched for a while and I happened to just try to manually update 1 listing and it worked again. So I select to update all and all (including those from LMarkoya) are properly updated, but I don’t know if JBW will keep them updated by itself or not. Perhaps eBay is swapping servers with some backup for their routine service, and that’s why JBW could not get the updated pricing?

I think something bad happened with changes from eBay again… :(

Not only did those listings not update even manually from LMarkoya, all the new listings I added starting from tonight will not update no matter how many times I quit JBW and relaunch or do auto or manual update.

correct, I quit then restart JBW and manually updated all items correctly.

Seems like JBW is not updating enough of the current listings = my settings in the search manager for “My eBay” items are set to every 6 hours, but sometimes restarting will make JBW to update all by itself, but sometimes it will not, just sit there waiting, so I click on the “update all auctions” after re-launching JBW, so it will update and reflects correct current bid price.

But I think it will not automatically update after the relaunch, because after leaving it on all night, the listings that’s due to end is 45 min. still showed the low bid price, and will only show new much higher bid price after quitting and re-launch JBW and update manually.

I did try to manually update it before quit and re-launch, but it did not work. and i don’t know why.

I learned on how to make JBW work for me. I am still winning snipes and adding the new listings and get what I want.

I found out that, even if the current pricing is not updated, JBW will snipe according to the current price. I do win those I should win and I will have a completed auction with snipe price higher than the showing end price, but the truth of the matter is that the auction ended with a much higher price than my set snipe price, it’s just not updated in JBW, but I can verify that clearly when I load up that listing after the auction ended.

2.2pre1 is an improvement. No one has a perfect software program but the tool is NOT useless at all.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Unable to Log In

you said: “So I go to JBidwatcher – Preferences – Configuration Manager Window – eBay tab – eBay User ID: Username: Default. Password is the same as my eBay account.”

re-enter your real ebay ID and re-type your password.

Migration Assistant never really do a perfect job when it comes to the login / password etc and signature and embedded hidden info etc. I am pretty sure if you do above, your JBW should work fine as your ebay ID is not “default”.

try downloading the 2.2pre1 as it does a much better job on showing the correct pricing, but still need to quit and re-launch JBW periodically.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Development / Where should newly watched items appear?

almost same experience on my end (Mac OS X 10.6.8 and 10.7.2).

eBay makes so many changes (they have hundreds of programmers working on things everyday), and JBW somehow still works as long as you try to work with it with experiences like such.

When I do a URL search – it will find lots of new listings, and for some reasons, some of them will go to the pre-defefined tab which I ask the search to go to, but part of the search results are all ended in the “current” tab. so I simply do search, and then go to “current” and select all and move them to the desired tab. I get it to work for me to my advantages, and I am still winning listings on items I want based on my globally assigned snipes. I do not do multiple bids, I select a lot of the same items, and then choose “snipe” (not multiple snipes) as I wish to win as many as I can from those and normally things will take little of my efforts and later I just concentrate on finding out how many of those I won and get to pay them from Paypal.

It’s like life, we learn how to make it work for us. JBW is great, but eBay has a way of making over 30,000+ changes everyday (really?)…

maybe it has something to do with if the listing is an older listing that started before the ebay changes .. I am not sure.

For my interest, whenever I can, I quit JBW and launch it again so that the old listings from my database will be updated.

Yes, I am running the new 2.2pre1, but even on some newly added listings, its not show the correct high bid price or the ending price, but the sniping seem to be fairly correct as I won the items I wanted today from using it. At least on that … I am happy.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Can't snipe any AUCTION w/STARTING BID and w/Buy it now

Try the new beta version – it works better as eBay made changes again …

This is the direct copy from Morgan’s earlier post from another topic:
====
Greetings,
I’ve been poking at this problem today, and I think I’ve resolved a few issues with eBay’s latest changes.

For those curious about why it would be intermittent, when eBay pushes out a change to their thousands of web servers, they do it in stages, something like 10%, 50%, 90%, 100%, so that at each point they have a feel for how the traffic and load is changing with their most recent tweaks. So the first day 1/10 servers will serve a slightly different looking page; generally not enough that people notice, but programs like JBidwatcher definitely notice.

I’ve tossed up a version, fresh from the compiler, for testing.

http://www.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher…

http://www.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher… for Linux
http://www.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatcher…

Give it a try, and let me know if it fixes some/all the problems for you.

There’s a known bug where items don’t always show up where they’re supposed to; it is understood, but not fixed in this version. (It happens when the thumbnail thread finds a thumbnail quicker than the add-auction thread finishes up, so the thumbnail thread ‘redraws’ the listing, but it hasn’t had its category set by the add-auction thread yet, so it ends up in ‘current’.)

Anyhow, give it a try, and let me know if it resolves some of the data issues.

@binzalt

I manually added the listing of the video card, it showed NULL as price. Tried to do manual update but it did not work.

So, quit JBW, re-launch, and it did update and show correct pricing….

Do more frequency of quitting out of JBW and reloading it … reflect current pricing. I have a general feeling that the newly added listings are going to be more updated than old one that was in your JBW database when eBay broke it by doing something new and different lately.

Thanks for such speedy response to the frequent eBay changes….

I loaded up JBidwatcher (2.2pre1-20-g63dd570) and then, from my search URL list, I loaded lots and lots of new listings, all of them show correct bid/buy pricing so far. I will keep loading and trying and sniping… I will try it on other machines at the office next week with 10.5 and 10.7

yes, not update on the pricing for me when I have JBW on all day. Currently new high bid is $289 and my JBW price is still showing $95 from last night and I kept clicking and select update auction but no price change.

After quitting JBW and relaunch … items updated and showing correct pricing (for now).

eBay definitely had changed things around again….

I just use URL Search and added a lot of listings to JBW, but all the listings from USA are marked with (null) as the high bid price, and I cannot set any snipe bid although JBW went through all the motion of doing so.

Those listings from UK servers however are showing proper amount of high bid … but I am not able to deal with any “new” listings starting from today. I think eBay just did some changes again… sigh …

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Adding multiple items?

I see.

If you have opened 30 items and read the description and you like 15 of them, then simple drag the URL (the little icon in front of the entire url) and drop it in JBW and I found that JBW will take that one.

If you want the job done right, you pretty much have to do it yourself. Right?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Adding multiple items?

This is how I add multiple items from the search results after searching them on ebay using my Firefox…

Mac OS X / Firefox 9.01 and 10.0 – I will (select all) on that page, and drag them into already launched JBW, and every listing on that web page will be added to JBW.

Try if that will help you speed up things.

I also have some URL already stored in JBW and whenever I want, just select and click on search to add to my tabs.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / values in max column disappear?

I am using JBidwatcher (2.1.6-0-geb75036) on Mac OS X 10.6.8 and 10.7.2 and yes, this behavior is also observed, but I don’t remember exactly how will make it disappear, but for now, since I did not win, I was not too worry about it, and I will try to remember my max snipe bid, but it gets hard when you have many of them going on…

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Tips and Tricks / Placing bids with your computer off

The way I look at it is:

1. JBW holds the token/with eBay from my machine with connection on internet to snipe and do things I want it to do from my machine, which I have total physical control with.

where as

2. Gixen is controlled by others… and physically not controlled by you, so you have no control.

If you ever work and run servers and services for your customers you know how easy it is to access all those confidential information.

You can disagree, but it’s the same as trusting a big company will never harm your account when all it takes is a bad employee who will steal …. Restaurants do not steal your credit card info, it’s the people who work at the restaurant that will scan or keep your credit card info and sell it to crooks.

For Gixen, other will also be able to heck into their server and take whatever they want to have fun with.

Anyhow, you do it your way, I do it my way, as long as you are happy. Who cares?

Just won many things today with JBW while I was on the road so I am happy.

So many good deals when the economy is still down….

Comment Topic: eBay Chat / Great program !

Thanks. I got hundreds of the listings into JBW … man…

Usually I go to eBay, search, then make more selection from the left to eliminate such as non-USA seller, etc. then I will “select all” on the web page and drag into JBW and it will import all the listings (no other junk). I guess I can now use the URL and repeat the same search easily. Well, actually too easily, I think i will end up bidding and buying more stuff now… Geez …. weeez…omgeeeez
