Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Time Left is N/A for all items

I added two new items to my Watch list. When I refreshed JBidwather, they showed up with the correct Time Left.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Time Left is N/A for all items

After setting up several eBay watches, I activated JBidwatcher 2.99pre5. It had been idle for a month or more.

When I noticed this latest release was displaying Time Left as “N/A” for all items, I reverted to 2.5.6-11. This older release has the same problem.

I’m running JBidwatcher on OS X 10.5.5.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Loooong delay at startup due to long Complete list

My JBidwatcher has been slow to start up for quite some time. But recently it seemed to be taking forever. I just timed it: 7 minutes from clicking the icon in my Dock until the blank window turned into a Current display.

Suspecting this might be due to my long Complete list – several hundred entries, going back several years. I decided I really didn’t need all those old entries, and I deleted them. That took a while because the list was redisplay after deleting each line.

With an empty Complete list, my JBidwatcher now starts up almost instantly.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / All is well after 2.5.6 auto-update hang

When I launched JBidwatcher 2.5.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.8, it offered an auto-update to 2.5.6, which I accepted. But the update hung with a never-ending spinning progress bar in the Install and Relaunch popup window.

I eventually gave up and did a Force Quit. After that, JBwatcher 2.5.6 immediately launched, and all is well.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / 20% off fixed price shows as $1.00

I sometimes put a fixed price item on my eBay Watch List when I’m not ready to make an immediate purchase.

I just noticed two of these watched fixed price items are showing up in JBidwatcher 2.5.3pre3 with a current price of “$1.00 (FP)” instead of the actual price. On eBay, both of these items have a 20% discount.

Two other fixed price items with no discount show up in JBidwatcher with the correct price.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Time left is N/A for all Buy It Now items

JBidwatcher 2.5.3pre3 is still showing “N/A” as the Time left for all Buy It Now items. The Time left is fine for normal bid items.

My current eBay Watch List has 5 Buy It Now items with Time left ranging from 1 to 29 days.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Two watched items don't show up in JBidwatcher 2.5.3pre3

I just deleted all Ended items from my eBay Watch List, leaving 7 Active items.

Then I deleted 2 old items from the My eBay tab in JBidwatcher. This left JBidwatcher with 5 watched items (1 in Current, 4 in My eBay).

When I run Get My eBay Items, the yellow bar appears, reporting “Found 1 watched items (about 1 new).” But no new item appears in either the Current or My eBay tab.

One of missing items is plain Buy It Now; the other is Buy It Now or Best Offer.

I submitted the Error Log after my most recent Get My eBay Items.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / My 'Watched' list now showing in current tab

I’m seeing the same thing with both 2.5.2 and 2.5.3pre3.

Long ago, all of my Watch List appeared in the Current tab. I seem to recall there was no My eBay tab. Then at one point, all watched items moved to the My eBay tab.

This morning when I checked JBidwatcher (which launches at Login and runs hidden), I found one watched item (expires in 2 days) in the Current tab and four other items (all with no expiration date) in the My eBay tab.

I accepted the invitation to upgrade to 2.5.3pre3. It launched with the same split of watched items.

Then I used Get My eBay Items to pick up the one new item I’d added to my eBay Watch List a few minutes ago. That new item (which expires in 5 days) appeared in the My eBay tab.

One additional glitch: Get My eBay also picked up an old item that expired on 30-Sep-12.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / My eBay shows only 8 of my 12 watched items

I launched JBidwatcher this afternoon after adding four new items to my eBay Watch List. JBidwatcher offered to update from 2.5 to 2.5.2, which I accepted.

On the plus side, fixed price items are once again showing prices in the My eBay tab.

But My eBay is showing only 8 of the 12 Active items in my eBay Watch List. It’s missing one of the items I added today and three items I added a week or two ago.

I’ve tried eBay > Get My eBay Items several times to complete the list. Each time, it reports “Found 1 watched items (about 1 new).” But nothing new shows up in My eBay.

As a test, I deleted one older item from My eBay and did another Get My eBay Items. Once again, it reported 1 new item, but now I have only 7 items showing.

Quitting and relaunching JBidwatcher doesn’t help.

Fortunately, I can manually add the missing items by auction number.

P.S. I’m running JBidwatcher 2.5.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Get My eBay Items doesn't get all items

Rather than open a new topic, I’m using this one to report a small, new wrinkle in Get My eBay Items.

A few minutes ago, I added two new items to my eBay Watch List. When I asked jBidwatcher to get those new items, the yellow bar appeared with “Found 0 watched items.”

Disappointment changed to relief when I noticed my two new items (with green auction numbers) at the end of my list.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Get My eBay Items doesn't get all items

My eBay Watch List has 10 items. 1 item has an opening price + Buy It Now. The other 9 items are all Buy It Now.

Get My eBay reports no new items found. Yet my My eBay list has only 5 items. The 5 missing items have been on my Watch List for at least a week and were in my My eBay list the last time I checked (a couple of days ago).

I just entered a bid on the item with an opening price. Get My eBay doesn’t update that item to show a bid. Quit and relaunch doesn’t help.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Get My eBay Items reports 1 more than actually found

Today, Get My eBay Items is reporting “Found 0 watched items.”

But my “My eBay” list is now showing only 5 of the 10 items on my eBay Watch List.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / null price again?

I’ve been assuming the false “null (FP)” price applied to all “Buy It Now” items. I now see JBW shows the opening price for an item that has both both “Place bid” and “Buy It Now” buttons.

When a “Buy It Now” item moves from the My eBay tab to the complete tab, the price appears in the complete list.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Get My eBay Items reports 1 more than actually found

For the past week, I’ve been adding several items a day to my eBay Watch List, attempting to snag a popular item at a good price.

When I use Get My eBay Items to update jBidwatcher’s “My eBay” list, the count in the yellow notification bar is always 1 more than the actual count. For example, if I’ve added 4 new items at eBay, the found count is 5 and all 4 items are added. If there’s nothing to add, the yellow bar reports “Found 1 watched items.”

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Development / Where should newly watched items appear?

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I’d add an item to my Watch List on eBay, and JBidwatcher would add it to my “current” tab.

Then JBidwatcher changed, my watched items moved to the “My eBay” tab. It was no problem to shift my focus to “My eBay.”

I just experience an echo of the past. I added a new item to my Watch List and asked JBidwatcher to find it with eBay menu > Get My eBay Items. The yellow bar appeared, announcing that 3 (?) new items had been found. But nothing changed in the “My Ebay” list.

Something told me to check the “current” tab, where I found my one new item! (I have no idea what the other 2 “new” items were.)

I entered a snipe on the new item … and it disappeared from the “current” list. I immediately clicked the “My eBay” tab and found the new item (with my snipe amount).

I suspect this unusual behavior has actually happened before because, from time to time, Get My eBay Items would report new items, but they didn’t appear. I found I could make them appear with a Quit and relaunch of JBidwatcher.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Watch list is loading but not displaying

I found an auction closing in a few hours. In order to snipe, I need to have a current list that’s current.

I tried a technique that has worked in the past — delete the “JBidwatcher” folder in my Mac OS X user Preferences folder.

Unfortunately, 2.1pre4 doesn’t display my Watching list.

Fortunately, 2.1pre3 comes to the rescue, showing the 8 active items in my USA eBay Watching list!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Watch list is loading but not displaying

Get My eBay Items (both manual and automatic) has been failing for quite some time. With JBidwatcher 2.1pre4, it appears my Watch list of 19 items is being loaded from the USA site, but only the 3 oldest items appear in my current tab.

I can see JBidwatcher’s local list by turning on “Use internal web server”, pointing my browser at http://localhost:9099/JBidwatcher and entering my eBay username and password.

I also see the items in my Watch list flash by in the JBidwatch footer status bar at launch time.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Can I restore my completed list?

Now that I’m running 2.1pre3-998, I decided to re-delete the JBidWatcher folder in my user Preferences folder (see my opening note). How NICE it was to launch JBidWatcher, do a Get My eBay Items, and see my Watch list return (with half of it correctly winding up in the completed list).

I entered a snipe on an auction that’s ending in a little more than an hour. (It was that auction that prompted my returning to this forum.)

I quit JBidWatcher and relaunched, and the current list is still there!

I’m holding off on further experimenting until that auction ends.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Can I restore my completed list?

Morgan, it took me a couple of days to discover your reply because I received no notification from topic monitoring — a issue for another day.

2.1pre3-998 is behaving the same as 2.1pre2, i.e., flashing the names of my Watch list in the footer status bar at launch time, but the current display stays empty.

Once I figured out that my eBay username had to be in lowercase, I was able to see my current Watch list in JBidWatcher’s local Web interface. The list appears to reflect the reality of the moment — correct amounts, and correct Time Left, etc.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Can I restore my completed list?

Recreating my JBIdWatcher database was short-lived. When I opened this topic several days ago, I had 7 items in my current list. Since then, four items past their shelf life and moved to my complete list.

I added a number of new items to my Watch list without checking to see how JBidWatcher responded.

I just noticed JBidWatcher is showing only 3 items (about to expire). The 10 items I added are not there.

As before, these missing Watch item names flash as updating/updated in the status line at launch time, but they’re not displayed.

At this point, both 2.0.1 and 2.1pre2-963 are dead in the water and I’m back to manual sniping via my browser.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Can I restore my completed list?

I’ve been having what appeared to be a failure of “Get My eBay Items” because my current list became empty as watched auctions ended and moved to the completed list.

However, today I noticed while JBidWatcher 2.0.1-825 was launching, the items in my watch list flashed in the status bar at the bottom of the window. At the end, the current window was again empty.

When I attempted to manually add an auction in my eBay Watch list, JBidWatcher reported it was already in my list. Ah, so I do have a current list; it’s just not being displayed for some reason.

Assuming that JBidWatcher’s database was corrupted, I decided to start over from scratch. I found the JBidWatcher folder in my Mac OS X Preferences folder. After saving a compressed copy of this folder, I deleted the folder.

When I launched JBidWatcher, it still knew my identity, reported a problem with the completed “column” data, reported it was recreating something, and filled in my current list with my watched items!!!

I now have JBidWatcher running fine.

Is it possible to restore my completed list by retrieving selected files from my copy of the corrupted JBidWatcher folder?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Get My eBay Items stopped working

When I encountered this problem with Get My Items and unknown sellers, I installed the 2.1pre2 release on Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Java 1.5.0_19-b02-304).

I dragged the jBidwatcher icon from my Applications folder into my Dock. When I launch the app by clicking the Dock icon, that icon starts bouncing and a second jBidwatcher icon appears at the right end of the Dock with the blue footer mark showing it’s a running application. The original icon keeps bouncing while jBidwatcher initializes and does its initial synchronization with eBay (US). (For comparison, launching release 2.0.1 bounces the icon just once, and there’s no second icon.)

This new release shows seller names for items already in my current list.

Get My Items shows a bright yellow bar announcing “Found 14 watched items (about 14 new).” for 30 seconds or so. But nothing gets added to the current list. I’m including the beginning of the error log at the end of this note.

Auction menu > Add New does nothing. Clicking the big green “+” button shows the Adding dialog, but nothing happens when I add a valid action number (copied from an eBay page).

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Active items in my Complete list

When I noticed my Watching list had 14 active items, with only 5 showing in JBidWatcher’s current tab, I searched these forums and found others have had success by opting out of the new eBay beta interface. So I opted out and did a manual Get My eBay Items — still only five.

Then I added three more items to my Watching list. Get My eBay Items did pick up those three new items, but there were still 9 missing.

As an experiment, I deleted one of the missing items from my eBay Watching list and added it back, thinking the “refreshed” entry would be picked up. Get My eBay Items didn’t add the “refreshed” item.

Finally, I copied the “refreshed” item number and attempted to Add an Auction, which failed with this error:

“Cannot add auction 280210809486, it is already in your auction list.”

It turns out I do have this item in my Complete list, with an End Date of 15-Nov-08. However, …

1. My eBay Watching list says it’s still active for another 1d 16h 53m.
2. The item description for this BiuItNow item shows no end date.

I checked another of my missing Watching items: 370132855033. This one is active for 4 more days, and it’s in my Complete list with an end date of 17-Jan-09.

I need to take a break from this investigation before my brain explodes!
