Topic: time left column not in order

Using the latest version today, I’m finding the ‘Time Left’ column is not reading ‘My eBay’ properly. Only three of my +dozens watch items (with Time Left) are showing any ‘Time Left’ in JBid. All others watch item listings in JBid show in Time Left " N/A ", which is wrong. It is not a ‘h’ vs ‘d’ thing as the three showing are 3h, 5h and 2d9h.

I’ve tried to refresh My eBay many times with no change/updating of ‘Time Left’ .

I’d like to see a simple ‘My eBay’ – “REFRESH” button in JBid!

Topic: am i logged in or not?

Hi, i’m running 2.1.6 on a Mac and am having the same “Yellow Login” problem. The StickiestLizard solution didn’t work for me, is there anything else I can try? It was working fine until a day ago.
When I do the “Test Login” I get the same message as the top initial post.

Topic: am i logged in or not?

I’m having the same problem as doomkrad, the yellow light is showing in the login area even though the activity log shows me being logged in. If I have an auction ending in five mins and then another ending in 7 mins, it will fail to snipe the first one, but then the light will change from yellow to green and it will snipe the 2nd auction. How do I make sure that I stay logged in with the green light?

Many thanks!

BD

Hi Morgan!
I’m running JBidwatcher (2.1.5-) on a WinXP SP3 (Professional) system. This afternoon JBidwatcher has started (again) showing the yellow light in the login area. The ‘Mature Audiences option’ has been OFF for quite a long time already.
Sorry to bring you this kind of news.
All the best to all your familiy, Morgan! _
Kind regards,
Valentin

Topic: am i logged in or not?

I noticed the same thing on my Mac tonight (Snow Leopard 10.6.7). What’s odd is that all of the running (not finished) auctions from the “my ebay” tab have moved to “completed” and it’s showing the correct end-date for the auctions as if they’ve already happened, even though the real end date is up to 6 days away. I unchecked the mature auctions check box and that did turn the yellow (logged in but no cookies) indicator to green. Also, I noticed a new tab titled “recovered” tonight.

The only change I’ve made is that I added a watch list in Ebay this afternoon. Could that be confusing jbidwatcher?

JBidwatcher on my Linux system is behaving itself.

Both are running 2.1.5.

Greetings,
Awright, that’s it… Starting with the next version, I’ve removed the Mature Audiences check-box from the configuration display. sigh It’s been my #1 support problem for people having trouble logging in.

The flow when you’re logging in as a user who wants access to Mature Audiences items is about 4 pages longer than the normal login flow. That’s 4 more pages that crap can go wrong, and the flow can fail, and drop you out without all the cookies you might need. It’s also a hard-fail for non-US based users; if your account is based on a non-ebay.com site, like ebay.co.uk or ebay.de, then the Mature Audiences checkbox is a ’don’t ever log me in successfully’ button. :(

Folks can still set the ‘ebay.mature’ key to the value of ‘true’ (both without quotes) in the Advanced Configuration page of the Configuration Manager, and it’ll go through the mature audiences flow, but I’m done making it easy to fail to login. :-)

Topic: am i logged in or not?

Sorry for bringing this up again, but I had the same issue as madra described above with “Not logged in…” in the upper right corner, and an alert with:

“Not yet logged in. Snipes will not fire until logging in is successful. Item updating has been enabled, but all features that rely on being logged in will not work.”

Interestingly this error was very consistent, but once in a while JBW would login and I would get a yellow indicator.

I have deleted the .jbidwatcher directory, switched back to older versions of JBW, however without any success. When I unchecked “I plan to watch and bid on Mature Audiences items on ebay.com” the issue went away (JBW logs me in every time and indicator is green). I have been off of eBay for about two months and the only change has been upgrading from JBidwatcher 2.1.3 to 2.1.5, and normal patches through Ubuntu for the OS and applications. For what it’s worth, I am running 64-bit Lucid Lynx (10.04).

It’s working now without the adult box being checked, which I’m fine with.

Vas

i know this is a two-year-old thread now, but i just wanted to chime in that i’m finding the very same Registered-Adult-checkbox-related behavior in JBidwatcher 2.1.5-0-g91e38b0 as was described by r2d2hp back in 2009. box checked = yellow login indicator; box unchecked = green login indicator.

Topic: time left column not in order

Greetings,
The sort ordering is correct for the sort direction you’ve picked; the items ending the furthest from now at the top, down to items ending the longest ago. That’s the sort order you’ve chosen. If you click on the ‘Time left’ column, it’ll reverse it, and you’ll see items which ended the longest ago (at the top) through items which are ending furthest in the future (at the bottom).

Click on it. It’ll shrink, and stop flickering.

Unfortunately that setting doesn’t preserve between runs, but it’s a quick solution.

Topic: incredibly slow to startup

Greetings,
@rwillett – Did you try the pre-release I mentioned above? The infinite redirect you’re seeing is a CAPTCHA message from eBay, unfortunately, but the pre-release should recognize it as such…

Topic: incredibly slow to startup

This is my first post :)

Anyway, a bit more information to see if that helps.

I’m running Ubuntu 8.10 and downloaded the latest 2.0 jar file.

I executed from the command line

java -Xmx512m -jar /home/rwillett/Desktop/JBidwatcher-2.0.jar

and got the following sent back

Fri Feb 20 12:35:18 GMT 2009: Getting the sign in cookie.
Fri Feb 20 12:35:18 GMT 2009: MQ_Swing: Postponing Message: Getting the sign in cookie.

I’ve replaced my username and password with XXXXXX to protect the innocent.

The java window is moveable in Linux but none of the buttons etc work as it seems to be waiting on something.

I do NOT have an issue with CPU though the Java process is running at 146.2M which seems quite lot but what do I know.

Topic: incredibly slow to startup

Greetings,
I’ve put up a 2.0.1 pre-release based on SVN revision 819. You can tell the version number by looking in Help | About and looking for 2.0.1pre2-819.

It’s available via:

Windows: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatche…

Mac OS X: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatche…

Linux & other: http://next.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidwatche…

This is a total test version; it will not be very fast, and it will create a really large file named ‘derby.log’ in the JBidwatcher data directory, but if you have any more problems, the logs will help me a lot. It may also create a ‘recovered’ tab, which will have auctions that had gotten orphaned. The listings you added, and couldn’t re-add after closing and restarting aren’t orphaned, they should show up in the ‘right spots’, as per where they were before. It should also fix the CPU overload/freeze on startup.

I believe it will also fix the ‘freeze on test login’ problem. It appears to be a CAPTCHA problem which means JBidwatcher’s not going to be useful to you anyhow until the CAPTCHA goes away, but at least JBidwatcher won’t freak out anymore, and will basically recognize it.

I could really use feedback on this, so I can hopefully release it this weekend.

Hi Not sure if this is useful to you Martin but I am using the same version of JBW on a intel imac and a g5 tower. The imac loads auctions blazingly fast and the G5 painfully slow this behavior only started with version 2.0 alpha/beta and continues with 2.0 release.

Cheers Tim

Hi Morgan,

Appreciate The ‘Registered Adult’ checkbox should not have anything to do with the My eBay search but I found unless it was checked it never pulled the saved auctions.

At the moment it makes no difference if ticked or not

Not sure what the Registered Adult tick does but I wrongly assumed it was to do with My eBAY listings as it was just above the lines

To have JBidwatcher regularly retrieve auctions listed on your My eBay page, go to the Search Manager and enable the search also named ‘My eBay’.

One interesting observation is that when the Registered Adult is ticked logon status drops to Yellow and as soon as I click on my ebay search I get logged off. Click on a saved auction and it recovers back to Yellow, untick Registered Adult and it goes Green

Forgot this: On startup and updating data, Jbidwatcher tells me that:
Wed Feb 04 14:52:04 CET 2009: Error setting up scripting: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jruby/runtime/builtin/IRubyObject
Wed Feb 04 14:52:05 CET 2009: Column data for ‘current’ was corrupted; resetting to defaults

Hi I have same Issue but only on my intel powered MacBookPro Running Mac OSX 10.5.6. My G5 Imac running on OSX 10.4.11 works just fine.
This completely beats me. I successfully sniped on an item last night with my G5.

Greetings,
The ‘Registered Adult’ checkbox should have nothing to do with whether it gets your ‘My eBay’ listings or not.

Make sure you’re opted out of eBay’s new ‘My eBay’ beta version, and you have your limit of ‘watched items’ shown per page set to something large (100 is good usually). Also check in the Search Manager (Edit | Search) to make sure your My eBay search is set up to run on a regular basis. You can test it by running that search specifically through the Search Manager.

Topic: incredibly slow to startup

I updated JBW to the latest version you recommended in the ticket and commented there, but I’ll make note here as well for anyone reading this post.
Version 752 helped the start-up go down to 18 minutes the first time, and then about 20 minutes the second time. So there’s definitely an improvement there. Still a bit of a wait but we’re along the right track.
If there’s anything I can do to assist with files or info please ask.
Thanks for the attention to this!
