Topic: Feature Request: Add all the auctions from the same seller...

Something you can do now to achieve that, not one click, but easier… (drag-all and drop)

Unless the seller has thousands of items… this is what you can do:

1. search under that seller to show all the items currently listed

2. scroll down to end of page to select list 200 items per page, so you get all of them listed in the same page or at least the first 200 of the listings.

3. (SELECT-ALL) from your browser page. In my Mac FireFox or Safari, I use (COMMAND-A), and DRAG the entire page to JBW windows

Magically, all the listings will be added to your “My eBay” tab or the “current” tab, then you can view them by date, price, title, etc.

You can do the same, with final search results on eBay on any items. I used that technique (drag and drop) to add hundreds of listings, and snipe on all of them. JBW 2.1.3 is much better in performance, and it’s not difficult to do.

Try it, just delete those you don’t want. Good Luck!

Topic: Bidwatcher takes auction as fix-priced - can't snipe

Greetings,
The official, full 2.1.3 version is out at http://www.jbidwatcher.com !

I’ll be putting up a Windows installer tomorrow, but for now Windows just has the standalone executable.

Best of luck with your auctions!

Hi,

I use 2.12. Some auction appear as fix-price with the result that I cannot snipe, although it is an auction without fix-price. Is there a work-around?

Topic: Feature Request: Add all the auctions from the same seller...

Hi:
I buy A LOT from an eBay Store that has hundreds of auction style items, I’d like to watch, bid or snipe on most of them,
I’d like to add all the items from my favorite seller to Jbidwatcher with a single command…

Regards

Victor

Greetings,

First of all congratulations. For being a father soon and for writing that very useful program. In fact jBidwatcher is one of my favourite tools. It has saved me money and I would like to donate some. How does it work?

Thanks! If you want to donate there’s a link on the home page near the bottom of the left side; it just goes through PayPal.

Second, for me, located in germany, jBid watcher stopped working a few month ago. Only auctions that are shipped worldwide can be added to the list… :(.

JBidwatcher 2.0beta10 should fix the international issues. Check it out!

As for printing, you can right-click (or control-click) on the tab name, and select ‘Print’. (You can also export to CSV files from there.)

I read a what you wrote about the major changes ebay made and that it will be hard to fix the problem. Will there be a version for germany again? Is there any workaround? I really miss JBidWatcher a lot … and also miss all the auction now. :(

One nice feature for 2.0 would be the possibility to print out all passed auctions in a list. At the moment I make snapshots and print them for my statistics…

Thanks again and all te best for you and your family!

When the tough times come – and there may be more of them for your wife than you, Morgan – we just kept in mind that the most important thing in the world was our baby!

Yes, and each new thing that Corwin does is precious and wonderful, as I’m sure you know.

Our two bq. babies bq. are now 28 and almost 22!

Greetings,
Yep; Corwin’s our first, and we’re still finding him a joy to watch and be around. There are definitely sucky moments, but they are very few compared to the wonderful ones.

Congratulations, Morgan, to you and your wife.
Is this your first child? If he is, it’s especially an incredibly treasured time for both of you. Although each baby is wonderful in the extreme. My wife and I have two sons.

Whatever my sons do for work or careers I, too, am happy with, as long as they are happy!

Greetings,
Frank: That’s my take. My wife and I are bookworms, geeks, and homebodies. We figure our son will probably grow up to be a football player, or lawyer or something. I was given a gift that allowed me to follow my passions in life; I’ll wish no less on my son, whatever those passions are.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t be thrilled if he finds technology attractive…! :)

..pete, they got their own way …. and it might be exactly what you wouldn’t do.
And that’s all the secret. If we live our own wishes ourselves, our children hopefully can learn to do the same …

Congratulations from Ireland. I hope he grows up to be a great programmer – I can’t get either of my two interested in writing code, but I wish I’d started young myself.

Very best of luck to you and your wife. Sleep deprivation really hurts, but hopefully only for six months, and then things will get better… Version 2 beta running fine so far – JBW has been invaluable here

Topic: [Important] Status Update

Greetings,
No, it means all platforms need Java 1.5, including Mac OS X.

Java 1.5 was released in September of 2004, around three and a half years ago. It’s includes a pretty fundamental change to the language, and I struggled with the decision to upgrade. I’ve held it off until the 2.0 version, but I really can’t support 1.4.x anymore.

If you can find a developer who wants to put together a set of patches or build steps that will use Retroweaver or something like it to build a 1.4-compatible version, I’ll consider it.

So I wish you all the best and much patience for the next 20 years. Living with kids is cool.

But another Question: does your announcement mean, that for all other platforms except Mac OSX you need at least Java 1.5.

When this is the fact, than all OS/2-eCS-Users will be left outside in the cold.
We only have java 1.4.09 and there will be a long way to get java 1.6 sometimes. Is there a way to make this lovely little peace of software backward compatible…..? Maybe it is possible to get this OS X thing for us.

Greetings

Greetings,
Well, everything JBidwatcher stores is located via the Java ‘user.home’ system property.

The most common way to run JBidwatcher out of a USB drive is to write a batch/command file which goes:

java -Duser.home=D:\ -Xmx512m JBidwatcher-{version}.exe

where D:\ is the path to your USB drive. If the USB drive has a different location all the time (probably true), it gets a little harder.

There’s only one place where ‘user.home’ is referenced, so I’ll see if it’s possible to pass a parameter which overrides that to be ‘the current directory’. There’s a bunch of questions in there, as to what will work, and how consistently, but it’s an approach that might work.
