Topic: Starting Multiple Instances Greetings, To launch JBidwatcher with that flag, you would do something like this:
You have to make sure to disable ‘Use internal web server’ on the ‘Webserver’ tab of the Configuration Manager, because they’ll fight over the port that it listens on. Other than that, I believe multiple instances should live in effective harmony. Let me know if I’m wrong, or you run into any odd behavior, since that’s a pretty new feature of 2.x! — Morgan Schweers, CyberFOX! |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Greetings, I’m going to guess time slippage from eBay’s recent change of the ‘official time’ page. :( Your system clock is probably off from eBay’s clock by a few minutes, and JBidwatcher can’t synchronize because their page is returning 501 errors. Arrrrgh… I’ve already made the change in the CVS tree, but it was after the 1.0.2pre6 version was cut. — Morgan Schweers, CyberFOX! |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Hey Morgan, Fantastic work on JBidWatcher, just want to appreciate my gratitude. I’ve won many an auction using it :) That said, I’m having a problem with Pre 5. Since you said the changes to Pre 6 were not core-related, I’m guessing Pre 6 has the same problem, but I haven’t verified. Yesterday, I told it snipe auction #300138605519 at 5 seconds from close, like I’ve always done in the past. I’ve double-checked the settings, and it’s still set to 5 seconds. However, as you can see from the bid history (My ID is j-mik), the bid was actually placed about 4 or 5 minutes from closing time. I’ve never had this happen before. Not sure what to make of it! Cheers, |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Sounds like your My eBay search has been turned off. You should: - click on the binoculars icon In addition, you can manually sync with eBay by choosing the “eBay” -> “Get My eBay Items” main menu option. |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues I got so excited, but I forgot to mention, JBidWatcher doesn’t sync the same as it did months ago. It used to get all my new listings on its own, but now I find I have to copy and paste in the listing ID numbers. No problem. At least I’m not getting those messages anymore that say there was a connection problem. I’m a happy beagle! Susan S. |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues I’m a Mac user, and I tried the download listed. What a relief to see JBidWatcher up and running again! Today I took a chance on an auction and used a snipe in the last 5 seconds. It worked, and I won! Thank you! Thank you! Susan S. |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Hi Everybody, FYI, I have installed 1.0.2.pre5 on an XP Pro SP2, using eBay.fr (France). I haven’t bid yet but “Get my selling items” is working OK. ../.. Follow-up: I had set up a snipe and it didn’t work. The events are: Events The wierd side is that JB logs in OK to eBay. I see “Done getting sign in cookie” when I ask to “Refresh eBay session” .../... More follow-up: I saw that “Registered adult” was not checked and I checked it. Now, JB tells me that my login / password is not correct and will not login (even if it says “Done getting sign in cookie”) I’m sure of my login and password… I quit and reopen JB and I can check the “Registered adult” and now it logs in OK… Funny stuff computers????? .../... Still more follow-up: JB couldn’t snipe for the same login problem :( On the main page, upper rightcorner, I see that I’m logged in, refresh session works OK but seems not to connect for sniping. Regards and thanks for your help. Robby (registered user) |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues That’s usually because the application (not just JBW) is taking a long time to close – more often than not because it has to do a lot of stuff to read/write from/to disk. The problem is exacerbated if the application is using a lot of virtual memory (using the hard drive as memory). This can happen to JBW if you are tracking a lot of auctions in your tabs. Next time it’s running see how much memory it is using and if the number surprises you (!) then try deleting some of your old auctions to see if that improves things. |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues One minor issue to report. If I try to shutdown my Mac while jbidwatcher is running I get a message saying that jbidwatcher has canceled the shutdown. This has been happening with previous versions too. I am running OSX 10.4.10 right now but I have seen it happen with previous OSX versions too. |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Hello, Thanks for the great program and for the extremely quick fix for the problem. One small problem is in pre5: The shipping is not read. Here it says in the price total field the same price as the actual price, even if there is shipping value listed in ebay page head. ebay.de and Win XP mfG, |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues I’d try manually logging in to eBay.co.uk and see if there is a captcha (text hidden in an image) as part of the process which is preventing JBW from logging in. If that works, retype your now confirmed password into JBW and see if that fixes it. If it doesn’t I’m out of ideas I’m afraid… |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Hi, Windows XP, 1.0.2pre5. ebay.co.uk. Doesn’t log me in. As such, it doesn’t download my watched items. It can update prices of current auctions. When I try to bid via JBW, it says there some kind of failure but to check the web page to make sure. It didn’t go through. Anyone else having these problems? Thanks |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues 1.0.2pre5 seems to do everything right for me. I’m Running OSX 10.4.10 on PowerPC. I’ve had sucessful snipes and snipes that failed appropriately becuase the bidding exceeded my snipe price. Thanks for getting JBidWatcher running again, -Jake |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Greetings, Thanks very much again, Laurence! sigh I tried the Windows, OS X App, and Linux downloads, but I didn’t try the source, and of course that’s the one that has a different filename format. (It’s just ‘jbidwatcher-1.0.2pre5.tar.gz’, without the CamelCase stuff.) I fixed it in the top post. As for price, yeah, it’s one of the weaker regexes, because there’s so little to go on. :( In fact, in the code, it also tries to ignore any field that contains ‘Item number’ after price, because it would sometimes catch it in the titles. I’ll reply a bit on the bug, and we’ll see if we can’t find the best solution. — Morgan Schweers, CyberFOX! |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Hi bsch, I can replicate your problem. I’m creating a bug listing for it: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=d… (Update: the problem is that the seller has “price” in their name and so JBW used the number after their name – their feedback, 2833 – as the Buy It Now value. I’ve updated the bug listing on SourceForge with a diff for the regular expression which should limit this possibility from happening.) |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues Hello Morgan, trying the pre5 right now and i found a problem with wrong fixed prices. This item http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&it… hasn’t got a BuyPrice at all, but JBitWatcher detects $2,833.00. Greetings and thanks for the great work |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues NB: “Source code : http://www.jbidwatcher.com/beta/JBidWatcher-1.0…” does not work since the “beta” directory in which it lives has a redirect notice to SourceForge. SourceForge does not have the pre-release versions. CVS still works – it’s just that it’s easier to explode a tarball over a Subversion working copy than it is with a CVS checkout :) |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues I haven’t seen that happen but I watched a BIN move to Complete when someone used BIN on the item. In general, at least here, pre5 is looking pretty good. |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues The current version of JBidwatcher seems to have problems parsing pages in which a BIN item has been won with a Best Offer, instead. As an example, Item 180087104618 was won (by me) with a Best Offer of US$6.00, as displayed in the relevant part of the eBay page. However, when this item was first won (ie. when the item was moved from the “current” to the “complete” tab), my copy of JBidwatcher displayed the Current price as:
unk1.49 Has anyone else come across this issue? David |

Topic: 1.0.2pre5 - Fixes save issues 1.0.2pre5 on SuSE Linux tracked an item withdrawn (auction ended early by seller – item is defective) without a hitch and also tracked two ended auctions where I was the seller. The dump listed earlier, it turns out, was driven by DNS problems somewhere in Comcast (OpenDNS used as a workaround). Bottom line: pre5 – two thumbs up!! |
