Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Strike Through - Not Communicating with Server

Hi, Go to ‘File’ then ‘Configure’ and if prompted enter your Username and Password (redo as you might have entered the password incorrectly) press the ‘Test Login’ button. If not prompted for your Username and password click on the ‘Ebay’ tab and enter them again here If you get the reply ‘Successfully logged in’ then job done. If you get ‘Login failed’ then click ‘Firewall’ tab (if you don’t see the tabs then click on advanced first) – do you need to enter a proxy here or is there a proxy listed here that you do not need. Enter or delete as neccessary then go back to the ‘Ebay’ tab and re-test. Should now be working…….

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Linux: "Time left" 1hr too much

Don’t think it’s a problem with the UK time change to GMT. If you check the other posts you will see that it’s affecting people all over the world! I assume it must be a problem with Ebay.com as JBidWatcher uses this site to fire it’s snipes. Seems to be completely random in which auctions it affects. I have ‘Syconized Time’ and now are carefully watching the six auctions I have snipes on that end within the next two hours. At the moment the times are correct and all counting down nicely……..

Hoddy

Spoke to soon – one of the auctions got to 20 minutes then changed to 1hour 20 minutes! Very frustrating………….

Have the same problem here in the UK. The time is changing on the auctions with less than an hour to go – an hour is being added to the time! So an auction with 15 minutes left is now shown in JBidWatcher as having 1hour 15 minutes to go. Anybody have an explanation why?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Max Bid not synchronizing and others

1. When I bid with JBidwatcher there are no problems. However, if I bid on eBay, my Max Bid is not synchronized to JBidwatcher.
‘Max Bid’ is the max bid you made using JBidWatcher. The program used to display your bid made by Ebay but hasn’t done so for a while.

2. Using the default My eBay search, only items in my watchlist are loaded in JBidwatcher. Items I’m bidding on, but not watching, are not loaded.
Again normal behaviour now – you can add your ‘watched’ items by creating a new search (Type URL) and copying the URL of your watched items page.

3. When I remove an item from my watchlist on eBay after loading it in JBidwatcher, the default My eBay search does not remove it from JBidwatcher. When I Delete an auction in JBidwatcher, it is not removed from my watchlist on eBay.

This is normal. JBidWatcher does not synchronize with your Ebay account.

Have you got ‘Logging’ ticked in the configeration manager under the ‘General’ tab? If so you should be able to view the Errors log (it’s under the ‘Windows’ tab on the main screen).

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / "Time Left" showing "N/A"

JBidWatcher is the same as any other ‘snipe’ program and has problems when Ebay start making changes. You shouldn’t be seeing N/A for the time left for auctions but you will see it for ‘Buy it Now’ sales as Ebay no longer displays the time left for these type of listings in ‘Watch Lists’ or ‘Searches’ – can’t imagine why? How do you add listings to JBidWatcher? I normally do my searches in Ebay and then add them using the ‘Get My Ebay Items’ menu item. I wouldn’t expect your snipes to fire if JBidWatcher doesn’t know when to fire them. Do make sure you are using the latest version of JBidWatcher – 2.1.5.

You normally get this statement if the bidding is already more than your snipe when your snipe is ‘fired’. ie Your snipe was to low!

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / rsa premaster secret error

Alan, Sorry for the late reply but I’m out of the UK at the moment. All you can try is re installing Java making sure that you don’t install a USA version (assuming you are not in the USA). See: http://www.java.com/en/

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Highest Bidder no longer identified

Jbidwatcher (2.1.5) no longer identifies the highest bidder so is now unable to multisnipe as it no longer is able to identify who is the highest bidder! (Windows version) High Bidder column is blank (—). I assume Ebay has been making changes again……..

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / High Bidder no longer shown

It seems that eBay (UK) may have changed it’s page format as JBidWatcher no longer is able to display the ‘High Bidder’ – the column is either empty or displays’(fixed price)‘. Completed items are now shown with the High Bidder as ’(fixed price)’. As JBidWatcher no longer identifies the highest bidder Multisnipes are no longer an option.

Hoddy

UPDATE: 13:00 GMT The High Bidders names have now slowly started to appear again and replace the instances of (fixed price)! Anybody have an explanation?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / How to Uninstall JBidwatcher

JBidWatcher doesn’t have an install program as it doesn’t install anything on your PC . It does however create a folder under ‘Users’ on Win 7 located at C:\users\yourusername\.jbidwatcher which you can safely delete if you don’t intend to use JBidWatcher anymore. Also delete the JBidWatcher2.xx.exe file you downloaded.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / 2.1.1 - Thumbnail, unchecked not working

Hi, To turn off the Thumbnails you need to right click (or ctrl click on Mac) the “Tab” and the select “Custom Columns” and untick the “Thumbnail” – they will then not show in the listings. Turning off Thumbnails in the “Configuration” stops the Thumbnails ‘poping up’ as your cusor moves over the listings.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / 2.1pre7 not retrieving watched items.

Hi Morgan, Just tried the 2.1.pre8 Windows Standalone version and it’s still not finding the Watched Items (0 watched items found).

UPDATE I deleted my .jbidwatcher folder and tried again – it now finds all my Watched items but does NOT find the items I am bidding on or the items I have already won!

By ‘Navigate to file’ I mean go to where you downloaded the JBidwatcher-2.1pre5.exe file (in windows this is often by default into your ‘My Documents\Downloads’ folder. If it’s not there then search your drives for: JBidwatcher-2.1pre5.exe and when you have found the file figt click and send to Desktop as above. If you can’tr find the file for any reason simply download it again and make a note of where you have downloaded it to.

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / WARNING to all non USA bidders using JBidWatcher

I must admit that in the past it’s never been a problem but now Ebay have changed the way that they deal with buyers “problems”. Previously I was automatically directed to the PayPal site when I went to report a problem and I would then open a case with PayPal and they would deal with the issue. Now Ebay has changed the “system” and Ebay deals with the case not PayPal as before hence the problem. To anybody who does have a problem I wouldn’t open the case in Ebay but open a case in PayPal direct – cut out the middleman (and hopefully the problems)!! Unfortunatly I still have a case open that’s on going……

Morgan – thanks for the reply – how’s about producing a ebay.co.uk bidding version maybe available by subscription only? Or when’s the Gixen version going to be available?

Thanks
Hoddy

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / WARNING to all non USA bidders using JBidWatcher

I’ve been a avid user of JBidWatcher for a few years but have had considerable problems and lose of money due to me winning auctions with JBidWatcher! I think most people are aware that JBidWatcher places ALL bids via Ebay.com regardless of where you reside. I live in the UK and have recently had two items that I had won but arrived and were “not as described”. I filed cases in Ebays “Resolution Centre” and was duly directed to Ebay.COM to make my claim – to cut a long story short Ebay UK would not deal with the case as the item was purchased via Ebay USA and I was advised to telephone Ebay in the USA (very expensive). Ebay USA told me it had to be dealt with via Ebay UK!! I eventually got a refund after returning the item but the refund was paid in US dollars UK pounds to my paypal account which meant I lost out considerably with the conversion rate. So be warned if it’s an expensive item (mine was) and you have a problem with the seller it can take considerable time and cost to “sort it out” via Ebay.com rather than your local Ebay site. The rules for Ebay.com may also differ from your local Ebay site. I found it an expensive lesson.

Morgan is the anyway you can provide a version that bids via Ebay.co.uk please?

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / Anyway to "Bid now " on Multiple items ?

You can only bid on one item at a time. But you can multisnipe – ie JBidWatcher will bid on the first item and if you win will not bid on any other items you have selected, if you lose JBidWatcher will then bid on the next auction that you have selected in the multisnipe. Once you win bidding stops….

Comment Topic: JBidwatcher Help / V2.1pre5 doesn't add items I've won or are bidding on!

I’ve now had to stop using 2.1pre5 as I’ve found that it I leave it running on my PC (as I normally do) after a few hours my PC starts to freeze untill it gets so bad I have to switch off and restart. (I’m running Win Xp service pack 3). I’ve now gone back to using 2.1pre4 and everythings now ok (has been running for over 24 hours without any problems!). So I assume it’s some sort of memory problem – it starts by causing Internet Explorer 8 to start freezing before the whole PC freezes. Looks like I will have to put up a bit longer with the deleting problems in pre4.
