It does and it doesn’t, it all depends on what the previous high bid was. In any case I’m wrong now, I see that. My apologies. I guess I’m just a dummy. Anyway….I did set the snipe today to 10 seconds and it was placed with about 3 seconds to go according to eBay so all’s well. |

I know that the highest bidder wins, but one reason I do it so close is to keep the price down. I respectfully disagree about 10 to 15 seconds, but that is just my opinion. I’ve bid on plenty of auctions where other snipers come in with as little as 1-5 seconds left and bid. The main reason I brought this up is because I’ve only had this issue recently, I’ve made lots of snipes before with 3 seconds left and not had any problems. Anyway, I hope you can respect my opinion, as I do yours. Thanx. :) |

I’m using Jbid 2.1.3. The last few times I’ve used it, 2 of 3 snipes failed with an error message that the auction couldn’t be bid on anymore. Is this a bug in the current version, or something else? I have it set to snipe 3 seconds before the auction end. thanx for any help you can give. |

Just curious, did JBW reset your PC clock when it was preparing or firiing the snipe? It did this to me and made me lose the auction because it reset my clock back an hour. |

I don’t know if this belongs in this thread, but I am puzzled…. I scheduled a snipe days in advance and with less than a minute before the snipe was to be fired it reset my PC clock back by an hour making Jbidwatcher think it had an hour left before it had to actually fire the snipe. (-sigh-) Luckily I was at my puter so I tried to race against the clock and re-adjust the PC clock to the correct time hoping I could still snipe. Too late, I lost the auction and got “unknown error”. I am using version 2.1pre5 Then when I tried to fire another snipe for a different auction, it fired it 5 minutes too early so I had to reset my snipe again in case I’d get outbid. In this case the PC clock was set to the correct time and was not 5 minutes ahead. This really frustrated me as I prefer sniping so as to AVOID bidding wars and people driving the price up. PS I wasn’t bidding on anything else and only had 2 snipes scheduled (the ones mentioned above). |

Add me to the list of those getting “Unknown error firing snipe on” message. |

I’m glad I checked to see if this version was available. It’s now showing the time left on BINs from stores. I’ll be testing the sniping feature again tonight. ;) Lynda |

Hmm….guess I won’t try the one second then. I used to do 10 seconds but that still gave people time to outsnipe me. I’ve changed it to 3 seconds and since I have a cable connection it’s worked perfectly. :) |

Oh I know what you mean. My parents used to feed the birds regularly but they said it was being wasted by blackbirds, squirrels and bears. They live in the country and bears are a problem. At least 2 of their feeders were destroyed by bears. They were always able to make the feeders squirrel-proof but never bear proof. They ended up stopping the feedings after it became too costly to fill them and also replace feeders. Now about birdwatching…. |

I just upgraded to 1.0.2pre2 for Windows, and am using XP SP2 Home. It doesn’t give an end time for BINs but aside from that I was able to successfully refresh, update My Ebay, and snipe with 3 seconds left. Aside from the item mentioned, I’d say this is a go! :) Lynda |

I’m curious if anyone has been able to snipe with 1 second left. I set mine at 3 seconds and it’s worked every time. So far I haven’t been outsniped but then again, most of the auctions I bid on don’t attract a lot of bidders. |

Does anyone have a favorite bird they love to watch? For me, I really enjoy seeing hummingbirds when I can (which isn’t often) and bluebirds, for their colorful breasts. I don’t go out of my way to watch birds but I sometimes keep an eye for them while hiking in the woods. Mostly I watch around my area and when visiting someone’s home. My parents used to have 2 or 3 feeders for hummingbirds but they weren’t bee proof so you can guess who got most of the nectar :( – at one time they were attracting up to 5 or 6 hummingbirds with the feeders! They also have a few outdoor birdhouses, including 2 bluebird ones. |

I used to be one of those against sniping. However, after trying to place bids, say, 10 minutes or even 2 minutes before an auction closed and then watching the price go higher and higher, I snipe for 2 reasons: a) to keep the price down and b) to avoid a bidding war. I love JBidwatcher, it’s a great service and have used it successfully many times. |
