I remember reading somewhere on ebay that they are fine with snipe programs – after all, sniping makes them more money.

As far as the time left “N/A” problem is concerned – I tried cleangroove’s suggestion and it worked for me.
Running Mac OS 10.6.8

For items I REALLY want, I just do a manual snipe to be on the safe side, for the rest I let JBW do its thing and I have actually not lost a snipe recently.

As to an alternative to JBW – all the other sites like that I know require that you give them your ebay user ID and password – I’m not exactly crazy doing that.
So for me JBW is the perfect way to go – and to show that I have donated.

Just won another item via JBw snipe

I would suggest that people who have problems with a snipe not going through make sure ebay didn’t block them from bidding.

If I REALLY want an item I always place a small bid, just above the minimum, early in the game to make sure ebay doesn’t block me from bidding for some strange reason. If it goes through great – if not I try to figure out why and maybe email the sellerto get me on the approved bidder list.

Internet connection is DSL in Montreal, Quebec running about 6 MB/s

Have you set up jBW to use ebay.de?
On ebay.com this auction number comes up as invalid which would explain why you can’t add it.

Did you check the actual auction for “free shipping”?
I find that many auctions offer “free shipping” but only to certain countries.
For ebay.com auctions shipping might be free within the US but nowhere else.

I have never had JB just stop working for no reason.

Either eBay made changes which JB needs to adapt to with a software update or you are blocked from bidding on the auction.

Ebay has given sellers more flexibility and options as to which buyers to allow.
If there is the slightest chance that I as a se;ller are blocked because of location and if I’m really interested in that item, I always do a test bid early in the auction cycle. That way I know my snipe will not be rejected by ebay.
From what you posted it looks as if the snipe was fired successfully but the bid was rejected by ebay.

I changed my ebay password several times the last year, most recently just a few minutes ago and JB never had any problems logging in

Turns out this is a problem after all.
Someone just outbid me on the item with two hours to go.

I wanted to set up a snipe fr this item but because the item is already in the “completed” list I can’t do that.
I also noticed another item in my “completed” list where the auction end time is March 30th.
Same problem – can’t snipe on that one either.

Any suggestions on a workaround?

I have other items in my “current” list that end in 1 day, 2days, 5 days and 6 days – so I now have no idea what causes an item to move to the “completed” list before it’s time. These are all US based auctions.

PS: Another interesting quirk.
Needed to reset my password.
So I followed instructions – worked OK to get back into jBidwatcher to post but it treats me as a new user with o posts rather than just allow me to reset the password.
Also not a big issue but it seems that there is a problem with the jBidwatcher software logic.

That just happened to me as well, same Mac OS and jB as accripon.
However, it only seems to happen when I entered a bid (not snipe) via jbidwatcher.

Anyway,that’s what I did.
The auction is now in the “complete” listing even even though the auction still has 4 hours to run.

So for me this not a problem, just an annoyance.
