I just installed 2.1pre7 on a machine running XP sp3 with java version 6 update 11 and logged into ebay with no problems only to find that the search auction acts like its working but its not showing any results. After logging into ebay, and running the search,I get the “No new result found for Search X” X being the search name. I have used this feature on previous versions the app with great success. Is there some other dependancy ? Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat B

You are correct in that 2.1pre7 won’t “Get My eBay Items” anymore. I cleared out my “My eBay” tab and it always comes back with 0 items found. I switched back to the 2.1pre6 version, told it to “Get My eBay Items”, and it correctly listed all the auctions I’m watching. I’m sure Morgan is already aware of this new problem. Going from about 4 MB on JBW pre6 to over 12 MB on the pre7 version while fixing many other problems unfortunately new ones have been created. I don’t know anything about Java programming but I’m sure it’s difficult to debug even without eBay making web changes all the time. Good luck Morgan and “may the Schwartz be with you, always”.

Thank you for the information, I appreciate the work that has been put into this product. I will wait for an update to come out and hopefully then the search function will work. I know working with Java can be a major nightmare at times. I work with some developers, I’m not a developer myself but very aware of the many challenges because of an app having to play by other vendors “rules”.
Thanks,
Pat

Greetings,
I am aware; I have a fix, but there are other bugs that are higher priority that I’m having much more trouble fixing. :(

In general, there are about half a dozen ways to get auctions into JBidwatcher, so I’m less inclined to release an emergency patch for the ‘My eBay’ issue.

@gurumarkb – What do you mean ‘Going from 4MB on JBW pre6 to over 12MB on the pre7 version’? Hopefully you don’t mean the file size, that would be…bad. It’s been about 7.7MB for a while now. If you mean memory usage…I’m shocked it’s that low. :)

Morgan, so you know, on my Mac (10.6.3) the JBW app file sizes report as follows:

The latest pre8 pre-release = 7,536,919 bytes. 2.1Pre6 was slightly larger at 7,536,302 bytes.

When running the newest pre-pre-release, memory used is reported as:

Real mem = 110.5 MB
Virtual mem = 1.63 GB
Shared mem = 35.5 MB
Private mem = 85.3 MB
Virtual private mem = 301.7 MB

I was referring to the EXE file sizes I see in Windows XP SP3 on my 45 GB partition.

JBidwatcher-2.1pre6.exe 4081 KB 5/2/2010 12:32 PM
JBidwatcher-2.1pre7.exe 12480 KB 6/1/2010 8:13 PM

This is what it displays for file sizes and these were downloaded straight from the JBidWatcher site.
Thanks for the reply Morgan and I’m ok using the pre6 version for now.

Greetings,
@gurumarkb – That’s…weird. On the server, they are:

-rw-r--r-- 1 jbidwatcher jbidwatcher 4178588 May 2 08:30 JBidwatcher-2.1pre6.exe
-rw-r--r-- 1 jbidwatcher jbidwatcher 4424807 May 31 10:26 JBidwatcher-2.1pre7.exe
-rw-r--r-- 1 jbidwatcher jbidwatcher 4425699 Jun 6 09:02 JBidwatcher-2.1pre8.exe

You should probably move to the 2.1pre8 version.

Okay, in the field of ‘extreme weirdness’, I just tested and built the ‘scripting-enabled’ version of JBidwatcher, and it came out to around that size:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 mrs mrs 12053538 2010-06-11 02:56 JBidwatcher-2.1pre8.exe

But I haven’t built that in…well, months at least, and maybe years, and it’s definitely not on the web site. VERY weird.

Thanks for the Pre8 update. The “Get My eBay Items” function is working normally again.
Pre8 version is back to a small 4322 KB size so I’ll just delete the Pre7 and thank you again for the Pre8.
